We have lots of the espar heaters on our fleet and I have had to replace them many times. Junk IMO. Look at a webasto

Put a webasto in gravel truck so far so good easy install and operate with upgraded timer.
Webasto all the way. I have one in our peterbilt. It's a miracle worker, show up, the heater grid doesn't even turn on and it starts up like its the middle of summer. Coolant will be 140f in 60-80 mins depending on ambient temps.
Camex in nisku did the install and sale of the unit for the best price I could find.
Would be a great addition to a diesel truck that has no electric power access.

Are you always working on the same equipment as well? These trucks are always in the same location. I've replaced the same heater 2-3 times a year in the trucks.

When you say personal truck do you mean a pickup or a larger truck?

I am sure he is talking about his own pick up truck but it really doesn't matter as they are the same heater I believe.

Heater is probably the same, but I'd like to see someone cram a heater under the hood of my 6.7 powerstroke.
It's just easier and cheaper to run a plug in block heater, or plug in cab heater.

I wouldn't want to install it but have you seen a new duramax? If I had to install one it would be on the cummins. They sure like to cram things in there. Sure glad I went heavy duty instead of staying in automotive!

Yeah they are pretty tight too, gone are the days of dropping a wrench and having it hit the floor.
I guess what I'm getting at is its probably better and cheaper just to use the block heater, and possibly add a pan heater, and if in a remote place its cheaper to carry a small generator to power these plug in heaters than it is to run a diesel powered heater.

We had no choice last year as we moved to a different location and didn't have plug ins yet. Luckily it was a mild winter for the most part. We are supposed to get plug ins installed soon. Im sure he is in the same boat. We have one driver that had his duramax sit for a week while out on the road and if it wasn't plugged in it wouldn't start. It was the only drivers personal vehicle that we allowed to use one the plug ins at the shop.

Don't put them under the hood.
Mount the unit to the inside of the frame rail under the front doors of the cab and run the lines from there. Easy to do on any truck. I've done a few. Webasto FTW.

took 4-5 hours to install worst part is dropping the fuel tank to tap in for the diesel straw
works great no issues in going on the the 4 th winter with it
make sure you run the heaters at least once per week for an hour all summer long
glover international trucks usually has them on sale for around $800.00 in the fall + plus the 7 day timer only other thing need is the heater hoses for your truck

Had lots of Espar heater every one was junk have a new webasto heater in my new Peterbilt and it works awesome

If you have access to a plug in, look at an oil pan heater, and or circulatory coolant heater. Take a short triple plug in extension cord, plug all three into it, and then stick the extension cord out to plug in. Won’t be hard starting with all that juice lol

Humm looks like alot like a webasto is the preferred heater with durability. Great info!
I seen glover international and camex was mentioned. Does anyone know of a dealer that would install one in a pickup truck??

Depending on where you are armor inc in Red Deer does them.
