That's just doing what all the crazy people want. Running away isn't the answer. For all of those that don't agree, I have a huge BUBBLE and TIN HAT for sale.
My condolences to the victims families. :(

Having this event when avalanche conditions makes it unsafe is the answer? They had no choice......

Nothing mentioned on the dealer info site:confused: It is 2 weeks away. Will have to check on that other link and make a phone call I guess, before cancelling the rooms.

I don't see your point of view. How is playing it safe during extreme avalanche conditions in the wake of a double fatal avalanche, on exactly the same mountain "running away"?

How would it look if there was another fatal avalanche at a Yamaha sanctioned event?

How can anything happen when you have some bubble wrap and a tin hat?

Now here's a picture of a guy in a hot dog suit.

I hope the reasons for cancelling are due to high avy risk and not because someone is afraid of the media....

I would imagine the press played into their decision. I would imagine Yamaha doesn't want any bad press sent their way. Imagine if something did happen the week after the last. The papers would be all over Yamaha, which would be terrible press and a bad business decision, sanctioned or not.

maybe they are just doing due diligence and cancelling due to avy risks, yes it is abit soon but alot of peeps come from along ways away and to wait and cancel at the last minute would inconvience many.

Randy can probably answer better, but i would think from a business perspective Yamaha wouldn't want to be linked to activities on Boulder mountain for the time being (the media would have a hayday if they caught wind). I may be wrong though. Also out of respect, as well as the avy conditions. (which could be alot better or alot worse in 2 weeks)

IMO I think their doing the right thing, conditions are not the greatest right now, and if gives people who had planned to go time to make plans for something else.

I say everyone should go for a ride to the cabin and meet for yamy fest.....from there everyone is in there own sleding groups! I just bought a yamy and it would be cool to meet with others. is it safe to meet in a flat place lol?

Nope - all it takes is one rider on a yamaha (not associated with Yamafest in any way) to get into trouble (even if they simply got lost on the trail ride up) and some overzealous reporter to find out that there was a group of riders on the hill for an event called "yamafest" and all hell will break loose again. Remember - its easier for someone to make the accusation and put you on the defensive. Once the headline hits the news, people will believe its official, regardless of whatever rebuttal to the newscast comes two days later - the damage is already done.

Yamaha made the right decision in cancelling the event.
