Xm rough idle and dies

Hey everyone, new to the forum and in need of a bit of help. I've got a 2016 xm and had some issues on the mountain today. Sled ran great for the trail ride up and after a few runs up and down at the top it started having idle issues. Fired it up and it ran for about 30 seconds and then died. Turned it over with the throttle held wide open about 5 times. Fired up again and drove it a couple hundred yards and same thing, started sputtering and just quit. Did this about 4 more times just to limp it back to the cabin and same result each time. Im going to try all the simple stuff like the plugs, fuel filter and leaving it in the garage for a few days before starting to see if its an ice issue in the fuel but other than that I'd like to know if theirs anything else i should look into before digging in deeper. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try unplugging the kill switch.

Maybe reeds - fuel filter - fuel tank parts inside the tank sometimes have issues - check the plugs - try new plugs

Sparkplugs.... potentially bad or old gas.

You may save yourself alot of time and take it in have it hooked up to the BUDDS.
My 2016 was doing weird stuff like yours a year ago.
Pain in the ass coming out of Keystone like that.
Turned out to be an intermittent coil on the PTO side.
Saved alot of tail chasing as the codes showed problem right away....

Hold M on the dash and click the headlight switch see if it throws a code on the dash

Thanks for the input guys. Drug it into the shop when i got home and drained the fuel plus swapped the plug's and it seems to be back to normal. My guess would be it had some condensation in the tank and froze up in the fuel system somewhere but with 2800km on the sled now i figured it was a good time to change the plugs. I used to have issues with carbs icing up all the time on my old rev 800's but this is the first instance with this machine. Will have to run some gas line antifreeze maybe just incase.

glad you got it figured. I was going to say the same thing maybe some condensation in the tank from summer storage and then freezing up. Toss a little heet in the tank for the 1st trip and avoid ethanol fuel it attracts water.
