U said it right before u kept on beeking off common sense is the best way but the law was needed for the ones that don't have any. So I guess by your opinion that all the peaple that have driven on allseason tires and still do for that last 30 yrs and used common sense are a bunch of morrons, if I was u I would look in the mirror and ask how good of a driver I am first before u call other peaple morons. JUST MY 2 PENNIES

I'm not critisizing you, just the road that gets to your door step. Sea to Sky highway and common sense drivers seems funny to me. Sorry, couldn't resist this one. Hauled a ski lift out of Ontario to Whistler in '96. Interesting drive starting with the brake check for Horseshoe all the way up to Whistler :)

I find it very difficult to understand the point your trying to make with you're rampant misspellings and lack of punctuation, but ill give it a shot. You have a couple guys who have made it 30 years with all terrain tires, but what you don't have my friend, are the guys who haven't made it to 30 using all terrain tires in ice and snow, or the guys who have wrecked their trucks with out them, because you can bet they are not going to speak up.
Driving skill has nothing to do with it, you just proved my point that you lack reason. You could put the best driver in the world into a car or truck that's not properly fitted for a certain condition, and driving skill won't come into play.
Stop embarrassing yourself bro.

Yea, sea to sky is a very dangerous road. I've seen first hand a lot of wrecks. Back in 96 eh, hahahaha, that's old school. I'm from back east to man, came out here recently.

Lots of Berry Barton's on the Sea to Sky, running Nascar racing slicks on their trucks.

You guys are hilarious :) Thanks for the laugh

Winter tires especially when studded are truely the way to go. I put them on my wifes van last yr and she loves it. But her driving style compared to mine are like day and nite. 26yrs of accident free trucking might have something to do with it (me, not her - lol). I run all season on my dually and put the same set on this year as well. That's my choice and nobody elses. Some of these comments are alittle over board but thats the pleasures of an open forum, to vent...so be it. Yes I can afford winter tires for my dually at a cost of $2000 or more for six. Over $5000 for tires on my big truck. A cool $1000 for holiday trailer tires and around the same on the van. Buying tires is nothing new to me. Afterall, money grows on trees...right? I realize BC has to implement alot of these rules do to the terrain of the province. Conditions change rapidly to say the least. I love BC, it's a very beautiful place. The problem has allready shown it's ugly head on this thread. Winter tires and 4x4 don't make one invincible tho some seem to think that way and it scares the hell out of me. I know the mentality of drivers out there, I see it every day :( So please take care and drive to the conditions at hand.

Hey there Junky I have to agree with you to a point. 38 years accident free driving is what I claim, Granted I'm only 49 but hey I grew up in back woods Iron River rules were different back then. I just bought my first set of winter tires this year. was always a believer of good all season tires. The roads today were quite icy polished packed snow on oil field roads. To tell you the truth this will be the last set of winter tires I will buy. I didn't see a noticeably difference. Now to let you know why I bought winter tires is all the hoopla about needing winter tires in the mountains. I drive to my sledding destinations in the mountains in the winter hence the winter tires. My 2012 Ram came with BF Goodrich Rugged Trails on it and no snow flake and no mountain marking. Being the Law abiding dude that I am I figure if I have new tires on my Ram that are good for summer I might as well get some that are good for winter. Once my Summer Tires are done I will switch them up to the Goodyear Silent Armour (all season) which in my opinion are as good as the Goodyear Ultragrip Ice WRT (Winter) that I am running now. Now all that being said I may change my opinion once I get some time on these tires but as it stands now today's conditions warm weather icy roads I'm not sold on them. Yes If the were studded.

There are so many contributing factors that some people, including government, over look or just don't realize. Dually or single wheel pickup, 2wd or 4x4, front or rear wheel, body mass of vehicle for ground pressue, tire pressure (over or under inflated), added weight (more so for pickups) for traction, proper tires, and yes...driver experience. It's just not the TIRE is what I'm saying. The first winter tires I ever bought in my life were for the wifes van last fall. Will I go that route again when they wear out? Dunno. So for a government and its counter parts to enforce this is where I have an issue. We all know how BC is with there laws. It's all over this form. Some are more of a cash cow than others. When are they going to make it mandatory for the commercial side to have "winter tires" and carry chains. It just never seems to end with this province to the west of me. Ahhhh, I need another

It has been the law for many years in BC, once you cross the border, any commercial vehicle licensed over 5500 KG must carry chains from Oct 1 to April 31. Dont get caught without them, CVSE officers are quick with the ticket book.

If you pass a scale and its snowing, if they see you dont have chains, you will be parked and forced to have some delivered to you before you can leave.

problem is pipes. that in bc we have a different climate then you have in bonnyville. we dont get the dry blowing snow. we get a lot of wet icy snow. and them rugged ta's you have are terrible here. the other thing is the quality of the tires you buy!! get top end product and you'll see a big difference. here's a tip when buying tires. go look whats on the salesmans truck. if theres toyo on all there trucks good chance toyo's are great tire for your area. personally i dont pay for tires and ive tried just about every brand out there. its my job to know the products i sell. and i wouldnt run the bc mtns on all season tires

Thats the most stupid comment i have ever heard so u think a experienced driver won't make a diferance on weather or not they survive. Thats about the same thing as a lake runner can ride the mountains.I don't no where u drive but make sure I no so I don't go their because u don't no the differance between experanced or a beginner. A set of tires won't make a differance on weatheer a driver stays on the road or not if they have no common sense because a exsperanced driver will drive to the conditions of the road with good or bad tires and they are called ALL SEASON TIRES not summer tires, they make misatakes and that is how most accidents happen, this is wear experance helps so If u think a beginner can drive a car or anything over a person who has u should talk to someone a little older than u.
