I'm not a thief, but just reading this thread kinda made me realize something........if I was out to steal a sled, would I not be better off stealing one that did NOT have a plate on the "polished" tunnel.

Just think about it, if u were breaking into a house...you dfrove on to the crescent, out of 5 houses, 3 had Brinks Security (or whatever) signs. 2 didn't. I would have to take a chance on one of the 2 with no security system.......no ?

When I see a bike or quad or sled on a trail with no plate, I think....Azzhole, this money is supposed to go back to the trail systems,,,,,,,,2, this clown probably don't have insurance either.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that having that plate on your polished or powder coated tunnel may look gay......but could be a fairly big deterant to theives when parked next to sleds with no plates

Thats a good point. My plate is on my snow flap and knock on wood we have been going to val, revy and sica for 12 years now and never had any problems. So if they want to check when a guy is done riding in the parking lot so be it.

mod sleds rarley get stolen.to easy to track down and really hard to sell or part out.as for bc you only need to have sleds registered.the problem still lies with our inept police force.they would rather write you a ticket than investigate a theft.

Well going to install a light below my bumper and bolt my plate to my flap so my back door can see my plate while my sled is locked up in my trailer. This way I know my sled will be there in the am. A thief is a thief, no way around someone who has no personal worth. Wasn't aware that alberta contributed plate money to BC clubs

Here is a strange idea....Why don't the cops patrol some off the hotel parking lots at night and check any suspicious persons in and around the hotels after hours. Maybe when they get a call about a stolen trailer or sled they actually show up?? Maybe to much to ask for with our tax paying dollars?? Yeah I guess thats a dumb idea...lets just get them to sit in the staging areas with their box of donuts and their coffee and we can just pass them our reg & insurance through there vehicle window as we don't want to see them over worked.
