I was applying some fancy new roofing that was suppose to be the latest and greatest at the time. Well it turned out to be unable to take a live load so through it i went, 32 feet later i had broken almost every dam bone in my body. The only thing not injured was my left leg.

As a mechanic, I've had all the normal cuts, scrapes, burns, etc.. Closest I came to death happened years ago while changing the boarding ladder on a P&H 2100 shovel. I was on the boarding platform, another mechanic on the ground and a welder on the roof. I was kneeling on the platform, bent forward talking to the mech. on the ground and the welder knocked a 5' chisel tipped pry bar off the roof. It hit me right below the back of my hard hat, knocking me out instantly. In the end, I was lucky. Eight stitches and a brutal headache for a few days.

I see head and hands are mentioned 65 stitches to my head, left hand had 32 fractures and right hand the surgeon said it looked like a box of rice krispies, little pieces dropping out all over the place when he opened it up.

Slipped and fell into the cellar on a drilling rig while de-icing it in -40 weather. Someone had put a steam hose into the 2 ft deep water and I got stuck down in there for about a minute with my feet cooking inside my winter boots. Most pain I've ever felt was the daily debriding of the burns, think wire brushing your skin (at least that was what it felt like). Had a stand of drill pipe fall out of the elevators and pin my foot to the rig floor, just about cut my foot in half. A real pain in the ass to keep it warm when it gets real cold out.

electrical has to be the worst..

Plio7, you are lucky to be alive. 347 is supposed to be the worst, you can't let go, and you won't get blasted off either.

Here is a vid I saw a couple of weeks back. It is not for anyone with weak stomachs. Just a warning to those who do,

not as major as some of these injuries, but weird and scary....I was running a slickline wireline truck and went to climb into the back, the .092 wire was a bit stretched and getting curly so I grabbed it with my glove to climb into the back and it slipped off my fingertips. the wire flipped up and went over top of my glasses and touched my eyeball. think of sticking your tongue on a metal pole at -35....it did the same thing to my eye. tore the moist outer layer off right in front of the retina, hurt like a bitch and all I could see was blur and couldn't hold my eye open. felt like my eye was on fire, I had to hold my eyelid open so my swamper could see what was going on, felt like something was in there....he told me there was a hole in my eye. freaky. 6 weeks with a patch....monovision sucks

I couldn't let go for about 30-45 seconds I figure. Got my knee up on the rail of the scissor lift I was on and kicked myself back. Landed on my ass and walked it off before getting a once over by a doctor at the clinic in the mall we were reno'ing

I fell hard on ice walking on the sidewalk going up to a residential job. When I fell it was in slow motion as I watched my left wrist extend back so my knuckles hit my forearm. First thing I thought of was shoot, I'm going sledding on the weekend. This was March 8. So I put my arm and wrist under the snow and pulled my wrist back to normal as I thought I only sprained it. Not so lucky to find out after waiting in emergency for 6 hours to find both bones were broken in my arm at my wrist and one in my hand. So got casted. Now I was ok except I could not move my arm to much. During my rehab the physiotherapist Rod at Capilano rehab found I had further issues in my shoulder as it was not getting better. I told this to wcb who after a while brought me into access me and finally i got an MRI within a few days of getting this visit. Results were that I needed surgery on my shoulder as I had a full thickness tear of my supraspinatus tendon and I needed surgery. So off to a surgeon. Dr.Bury out in Leduc. Had surgery real quick of the MRI. This was my first surgery and it was quite easy, and I'm quite impressed so far. I go to physio 3 times a week right now, and am on a 5 hr workday schedule, which took a while to convince wcb to let me go back to work. I'm ahead of the program by about a month now. I am about 75% already, which is great. Working hard to get my shoulder back, my wrist is good.

You'll find as you / we get older how hard it is to recover from these types of injuries, surgery and how it then plays into limiting out passion of sports activities.

Just a moment of inattentiveness, rushing, not noticing (something) simple and bam you're hit with the ugly stick.............

Very true Dale. I gotta learn to slow down instead of seeing the money sign and maybe think, what can happen if I do this. ?
Pretty spooky when a chain with 3000 lbs comes to take a chunk outta me
