This is what i think, putting all prejudice aside. All the sled today work and perform well in all aspects of the mountain backcountry and it really boils down to personal preference.
But even though i believe that is the case all the make excel in certain area's over another. So its all about what you like to do.
Here is how i see it;

Polaris is the master of tree riding and imo no others will run with the Polaris in the think of thing's. So if that's your deal, Polaris is for you.

Cat, even though this new Alpha is coming no one has truly ran this through the paces. It will need a season to see how that work's out and publicity imo is not proof. They could take Polaris's title away for tree riding but only time will tell.
But either way they are "F"n TOUGH, if you want reliability in an all around high performer Cat is your sled.

Yamaha, if your deal is flat out power and reliability, it trumps everything in production yet staying competitive in general handling to its smaller two strokes.

Ski-doo, imo again is an all around sled, easy to ride does well in most all condition's. It's the only sled that works well for new comer's to the sport imo, so well that many never move to other brands. Its a great entry level sled that can hold its own. But to call it the best, it is not.
So if your an older rider an out of shape rider, new to the sport or just don't get the seat time you wish you could the Doo is your ticket as it can make you look good riding. BRP has done a great job in producing a sled that is super easy to ride...maybe too easy for some.

BTW, Yamaha is still the toughest sled to ride today but not by much.

Yamaha's are crap when it comes to abuse that tree riding results in, rolling upside down, lawn darting, pushing over backwards, starting upside down and revving to cut snow away while rolling upright etc. Too heavy and no 4 stroke likes to run upside down. If you are rubber side down most of the time you are not riding hard enough.

I think you miss read the post. Its not what i meant.
Yamaha's are the HARDEST, most DIFFICULT to ride, that what i mean't by tough.

Anyone know what the difference is in width between the 3 brands measured from side panel to side panel.

Looks like it still trenches bad and drags the tunnel through the snow typical cat style
Without being there and knowing first hand what snow conditions were like, and no other machines running the same terrain to compare to in the video that's a pretty bold statement to make.

If you listen before they take off the Polaris isn’t running right it stumbles as he give t throttle. Flash tunes never do that with out an issue. Slow the video down an you can see his finger pulling in on the break. We screen shot it and it’s not just in the break it applied you can see it’s moved the park break mechanism. No properly running turbo would have any issue climbing that hill. If anything the cat might be close with a 155 from to much ski lift but no turbo should have to switch lines to climb the bunny hill. Rob and Dave are like watching an infomercial just horrible

In a way yes I will agree. Me an a friend sat and watched while having a beer after getting him out of a trees last trip. To watch a Axys and G4 vs the Cat the cat always seemed to have the track dug in way more and when going across a side hill it was always trenching deep this just looked the same. I think it’s in weight placement and geometry of the chassis. I always used to like cat a lot I just feel like it’s time for a new chassis not more bandaids on this one

If the park break was on that sled would be on fire by the top of the hill.

He’s holding the brake lever in a bit. I didn’t say the park brake was on the mechanism is moved away from the housing

You have better eyes than I do....?!

We obviously don't know the comparison.... A turbo 155 x 2.4 track just might not pull with a 3" 162 (especially if there's a weight difference with the riders..?) Take it for what it is.... there's a lot of garbage on the internet.

Anyone going to the demo in Vale? I'm thinking of heading down either Saturday or Sunday, riding a day or two, and then doing the demo on Monday before heading back. As of now, I'm solo. Anyone solo wanna truck pool down, or any groups want a tag a long for a couple days?

So I checked out the Alpha at the saskatoon sneak peek tonight, and it's a nice looking machine. Looking at the mono rail I would bet that It's a lot stronger then the two rail system. It looks well built and looks tough. Plus it looks like it uses two of your typical hyfax, and guessing easy to replace out the large window in the track.
