I think a lot of the birth defects and still borns they were having was from the lack of genetic diversity on their 'ranch' / colony!!!I live beside an area that has a church that follows his beliefs and religion! He actually was a substitute preacher at the one church years ago!!Some of these guys too have the same birth issues that they had up there!!!Some of them will sooner marry a relate than someone outside of the church!!One couple actually didn't even have to change her last name when they got married and had their first kid, after many miscarriages, also she was in her 40's,and then ended up with a handicapped kid!!!The gene pool is pretty shallow here too for them too!I think the health issues he was bringing up could have easily been explained with genetic testing instead of testing the environment!!!!I have to live beside religious fanatics that think he was a great man fighting the evil heathens but they all enjoy the spoils of the oil industry!!They should have allowed genetic testing up there and everyone would see what the real health problem was!!Too shallow of a gene pool, not flare stacks!!!

I don't really care what he was fighting for, whether it was right or wrong. To put someones life in danger for doing their job is wrong. His point could have been made 100 different ways, that don't involve shooting at innocent people trying to feed their family.

As for the 16 year old girl, I'd be a liar if I said I had never done something similar when I was younger. I can't believe he murdered her and some people still speak highly of him. Proves that he obviously isn't the only nut-job around.

To the guy who was working in the area when wiebo was shooting the place up, money isn't worth your life man.

lets see you have posted several times anyone you catch just lookin at yer stuff, will be fawked up. what is the difference between what your saying and what ol wiebo has said or done please explain. and again, i don't agree with his methods. just can see his point.
that is what i have surmised so far from drinkin beer, got a few left ya coming over we can get smarter together.hehe

dave yes we have been down this road, if big oil is so concerned with the environment and peoples health, then why do they not have the same standards world wide, and why will they not do anything until the government steps in. unless your definition of concerned is different than mine, you really can't be serious.

This is a retarded statement old man.... I catch you stealing my stuff then yes... Im going to fawk you up...bad. I have never said I would fawk anyone up for looking at my stuff. you are worse than the media. Get a life. Keep this up and we're going to become good ridin buddies. :rolling:

The good news, Lar, is: if you ever get tired of your current job, yer a shoe-in to work as a fact-twister for a liberal newspaper....

Knight blasting at some stoned thieves (not suspected thieves...they were leaving his property RIDING his property) with bird shot in a 20 gauge is not the same as shooting joy-riding teens with a high powered hunting rifle.

wow, never heard of this guy before. interesting reading though.

glad he is gone, and I hope his children don't continue what he started. the oil and gas industry cant live without it, well you can but you cant sustain the life we currently live without it. ethical oil by ezra levant has some pretty interesting facts

What the F*ck is wrong with you some of you people? Anyone who defends this POS is a POS. The man was a murderer, that's all there is to it.

Are you going to say Robert Pickton was an alright guy because the people were he killed were prostitutes?

If I had respect for any of the people who are defending Wiebo, I no longer do.

WTF dave, you can't be serious, you need some more beers, shooting a gun any gun at someone is a serious fawkin offense, 22 12 Gage or 50 cal, just what the f--- is the difference. both these were friggin petty crimes dave, you can't be serious!. you think it's ok to shoot at someone stealing a old quad, but not ok if they tear up yer yard, late at night out in the boonies, (young children in tent, Alleged) hmm, i see some beer drinkin coming on .

Ya guns are no joke. I know I have plenty of them. I don't know what it would a actually take to draw a gun let alone shoot at someone though.
if someone was pointing one at me I think I could muster up and point one back.

Yea I mean if the situation presented itself where my family was in danger I'm sure I would whip out a pistol or defender but really only if someone did it first. I don't care about me as much as my family. But To point a gun at someone for less then described reasons ain't worth the consequences. My fists can talk too

i'm sure everyone on here has done a dumb thing once or twice, i know i did my share, a good cuff would have cured the problem, gunshots would have and has caused a lot of sensless grief. keep the guns locked up period.

Wiebo was a fanatical nut job who had a very narrow of view on the ways things should be, he had a religion, that most of us would agree, was extreme. I believe part of the controversy was started when they started doing flarings close to his property. Thery were asked to stop, but they didn't as someone had a lot of money tied up in the exploration. Obvously it went downhill from there. I suspect that measures were take to purposely piss the guy off. It still happens today. Just look at bill 50 to see where this leads to. Big oil is into making money plain and simple, and heaven help anyone who would stand in the way. Oil and gas is huge in alberta and without it Alberta would be nothing but a farming outpost. I can see that everyone has a point of view that are very passionate about and we are never going to come to concensus if we remain so polarized. Big business regardless of field has a habit of ignoring inconvient annoyances if it going to get in the way of profit and if you are so niave to not see that I am sorry. However there is a lot of NIMBY that does go on and it happens. What Wiebo did was acts of terrorism and should be treated as such but remember he was pushed and people did really stupid things. When I was growing up in NS we had a neighbour that we knew was nuts and the last thing any one did was to provoke him, why the kids went on the property was just insane. Everyone knew what he was capable of, so why tempt fate? Problem is he is not the only one on that farm so is this the end or just the beginning. Good discussion leads to understanding keep the conversation going. Who has beer?
