I have an align t rex 600 nitro I would part with, needs a couple parts to finish to completion, never flown but motor was broken in.

Alright I just checked out the trex 600 and I'm 100% sure that I would become an amputee if I owned it. Good info guys, I wasn't aware that these choppers were so realistic.

Looking something easy to fly around, where there is not a steep learning curve. Spend less than 300 bucks and perhaps be a bit more resilient than the Costco jobs.

I personally love watching the chopper pilots when it comes to the RC stuff, if you can stand next to a good pilot and watch their thumbs on the controls they are constantly moving! I used to fly fixed wing but haven't in probably 10 years, still have the planes hanging in dads basement but I'm pretty sure he's robbed all his radio gear back for other planes he's got around.

I should go thru all that stuff and see if anyone here is interested..... For those with kids I know I have an Eaglet 20 kit at dad's that only has the tail feathers built on it.

I've got a TREX 600E Pro that i'd be happy to let go for cheap if anyone is interested! Also if you're just getting into it, get a computer simulator. Cheap repairs haha

Okay, so I've got a about a month on a 4CH little heli i bought from Hong Kong for cheap. It has the 2.4ghz remote, swashplate, etc, so I guess its not really one of the 'mall' types.

It's actually a slick little unit. It was hard as hell to learn how to get it airborne for more than a couple seconds, but now I am hooked and getting fairly good with it. Got a Gopro from the ol ball and chain recently and seen some really interesting mounts/rigs for them. What would you guys suggest for something to bump up to come spring time? Not anything huge but not really tiny either. I would spend up to 5 bills...

Thanks!

If your looking to take some heli video I would look at a quadcopter for that. Much more stable and easy to fly. I now have quite a few hours on the 450's and 500's but I'm not confident enough to strap my Drift Ghost to one yet. Lol.
I would suggest moving up to a Blade 300x. It's a flybarless heli and comes stock with an ar7200bx. It's a whole different beast. Quick and cheap to repair and once it's toast you can use the electronics for any other heli kit. I think they are around $300 plus a radio. Make sure you get yourself a good 7 ch programable radio. I think I have about 8 Helis programed in mine. Once you get up into a 600 you will be SCARED haha they make a sh!t load of wind and loud as hell. I have a Compass 600e that scares the crap out of me and when they hit the ground they end up in many pieces.

I bought the Spektrum Dx6i and the Phoenix RC flight sim back in the summer,.. cost me about $300 and sure is fun,.. A lot cheaper that crashing real helicopters at the moment, and you can flight quads, planes or heli's,.. I recommend it for anyone starting out.

I started with a Blade 120sr, it turned out to be a total waste of time with the off axis fly bar. I then went to a Dx6i and Phoenix flight sim. Then got a MCPx BL, this thing has lots of power and is a full collective pitch heli. I found it to be the best bang for the buck. It also crashes very well. I crashed more with the MCPx and spent less on repairs then I did with the 120sr.

I have also picked up a blade 300x, this is also a well priced heli but not as durable as the mcpx bl. The bigger they get the more they break when crashed.

Stay away from the blade 130. Real POS with the tail rotor. The gears have stripped out so many times. That hobby can get so out of hand blowing money on parts and its all gone with the slip of a stick. LOL

Okay you chopper guys, I bought a WL Toys V911 online a couple months back, and I am so hooked on it now. I guess this is not what you would call a 'mall copter', maybe I am wrong. After some frustating time spent just getting it to hover, I can fly this pretty well without crashing. I am getting to understand the functions of elevators, airlerons, etc.

I was looking at a Blade 300X or perhaps a Trex 250. Any other suggestions?

I have recently bought a Go Pro and want something that can lift it and take some aerial photo and video as a side note. I would like to get into basic 3D flying at some point. I like the idea of a slightly bigger heli. Not huge, but not micro. You know what I mean, right? I like the idea of picking up a quad copter at a later time as well. Something that doesn't cost an arm an a leg to repair.

Perhaps the Blade and Trex are apples and oranges, but just looking for suggestions. What sort of extra parts should i be buying with said heli?

What type of transmitter would suit my needs, a Spektrum Dx6i? Thanks in advance!!

I have that transmitter and it works well,.. but I do suggest buying a sim,.. you know the old adage,.. spend a little to save you a lot :)

Also would be cool to start a group on the multiplayer server and mess around.

i have both the trex 250 and the 300x. The 250 is still lying in pieces. I enjoy the 300 much more. The 250 is very fast and hard to control. I've tried many combinations of set up with the 250 and I just find it harder to fly... twitchy. The trex 450 Fbl is a nice unit but still not big enough for a gopro. I've tried using larger battery's in the 450 which are heavier and with the extra weight it "toilet bowls" fast on you. Can't imagine what it would be like with a camera. IMO you would need a 500 or 600 to pack a camera well enough to do what you want in less you just want to record crashes...lol.
Most higher end Helis have "crash kits" you can buy. They come complete with blades, boom, skid. Rear rotor etc. every crash is different. To be honest I buy them two at a time...parts rig. A simulator is a must no matter what. Good luck.
