The XM is less expensive than the Pro this year and for those guys who ride 10 days/ season you really should not respond. I have ridden doo for the past 16 + yrs and ride 2500 kms/yr. Next season I expect I will be riding a Pro even though the quality and reliability is way below that of a doo. The reality is that if I want to keep up in the trees, the doo won't cut it. I rode the 13 XM and it is a sweet sled but it still cannot do what the Pro does. I have to look for a Pro now and hope I don't regret it.

maybe they'll tweak the power in the years to come, would be nice to have some more pull. i'd consider one for a next sled, probably less tired @ the end of the day

Never laughed so hard in my life. Thanks for that. Coffee everywhere.
If you want to keep up in the trees its called practice. Don't matter what your riding. Its not the sled sorry to say.

Quality and reliability is way below that of a Doo????? I have owned many Doos in the past. My 11 pro now has 4000kms on it and it has been very reliable and the quality and fit and finish is as good or better than any Doo that i have owned. My last 3 doo engines never lasted past 3200kms.

So, going by your logic, you could tree ride just as well with an Apex ??? Give it a break, maxwell. Everyone knows the rider's skill level is a huge part of the equation, but the right sled makes the job much easier. The Pro does that. You obviously don't believe in working smarter, not harder.

any of the sleds in the 800cc 2 stroke class can be ridden equally aswell in the trees with the same effort same rider with an edge to the doo for power and traction. but an excellent rider on a pro could probly offset that.

and yes i could probly outride you on an apex in the trees. just sayin. compare apples to apples tough guy!

Oh my, I hit a nerve. Remember, you said it's not the sled, not me. Don't understand where the "tough guy" comment came from, but if you want to round up an Apex next season, we can definitely put some cash on it.

I thought like you for many years but never rode like we ride now. On the busiest weekend in Fernie or Golden there is never any tracks where we go and its just off the trail as everybody else thinks it is impossible terrain for a sled. I get suckered into riding 2 places, cliffs with trees and trees with cliffs. We don't go straight up or down, we sidehill 45+ degree slopes often with openings just wide enough for a sled. The trenches are usually 3 + ft deep so following each other is a real treat with the downhill ski often steering off tree trunks. The XP simply high centers under the back of the belly pan/side panel in these conditions and gets stuck anytime it gets horizontal. It will go up or down no problem and the S36 front end helps initiate the side hill but with the ski inboard so much the side panels hang up too much when riding that much slope. Lately I have been running the skis on the wide setting just to hold the chassis away from the hill. Anyway I can't afford a new Pro, so I hope buying used doesn't bite me. For climbing or boondocking or even open face untracked sidehills, the XP is great but not for where we go unfortanately.

Mentioned this washout of the side panels a long time ago on this BRP loyal site and the BRP group pretty much told me i was full of bs. Glad somebody else has experienced it.

It can be done with an XP......you just need Carl Kuster to show you how. Lol. The new panels on the XM are designed to go through snow better when the sled is layed over and not give you the high center feeling you are experiencing. Unfortunately there are no used ones yet that will fit your pocket book expectations Chris.

i can somewhat see what your feeling here, i rode a buddys sled this year that had a 3 inch track on with no skid, we were in deep snow and i found out that it would also get high centered just behind the pannels and the start of the boards, but for sidehilling it worked fine and could do it anywhere poos could.... the solution to the high centered is the skid,... i also had the 880 there that day with stock drivers and bakers skid, that sled never had the problems my buddys did and just kepted motoring, we could not belevie the difference, give that a try before you throw in the towel

high centered? wtf are we talking about here? atvs? going over logs? what?

you hold a sidehill by adjusting your foot position on the xp. generally its much further back than most think. if its washing out your to far back move forward. not hard.
