Wondering which winch to go with for 09 teryx. 3000lb or 4000lb?
Is the 3000 enough?? I have a warn 3000 on my brute force and i feel like i work it pretty hard sometimes. With the added weight of the side x side i was thinking about the warn xt 4000 buy it is mighty expensive. What are you guys running for a winch??

I have a viper 4000 on the front and have had no problem with it. I also have a 3000 superwinch on the back and it struggles. I only put the super winch on the back due to it being on sale for $129. I bought the viper winch on ebay with the synthetic line and delivered in 2 days for $268. The viper has a slower recovery than a warn but seems to pull as well.

I have never heard of these viper winches before. They look just as good as the warn?? what do you mean by slower recovery??

I dont think the whinch is as quick to real the wire back in. I got one of the princess auto tracker winches. Works good for me and i paid 250 for it(4000lb) when they first brought them in.

I googled Warn vs Viper winches and read over alot of forums under this topic. I have not found one bad experience with the Viper winches and everyone that has one is very happy with the winch itself and the customer service that they have received. With that amount of price difference i am going with the Viper!!

I've got the viper 4000 on my rzr, its worked great and has been under alot of water and mud this summer and has always worked for me.
At about 1/4 the price of a 4000lb warn, go with the viper.

My next winch will be the Viper Elite 4000, this Warn xt3000 I have on my rhino is a piece of donkey ka ka. Growls, barks, squeals and sometimes says foreign words when I am using it and its only been used about a dozen times or so.

i agree with arewethereyet, i also have the warn 3000 and it is really hard to pull out in free spool and for a 3000 it is not much better than my warn 2500 but the price difference between the two is huge. Viper for me!!!

I went with the warn XT40 as when priceing them out by the time you add wireless controller and syn rope there was only a few bucks differance.Warns lifetime warranty was also a consideration.I used mine today to pull the fully loaded[4 point buck in the back]up the bank and back on the road

warn would not cover anything when mine died after about 6 easy uses i have not had luck with any atv winch, they all crap out pretty quickly when used hard.

we rent the rhinos n prowlers and in most cases a 2500 warn will do the job. i dont like the wiring on the super winches. imo a snatch block will go a long way, and they are cheaper than the 3 or 4000 lb, the 4000 is a little harder to install as the body is bigger, but its all personal preference...

the rhino weighs around 1500 wet with tires. so a 2509 should do the job a bigger one will just do it easier.

thats just my two cents

The big problem with winching a UTV is when they are stuck on wet snow with all 4 tires spinning. The combination of the wet sticky snow easely overwelms my old rt3000 winch. Its not a fun situation when your winch is stalling out and your miles from knowhere and darkness is approaching and its just you and the wife. After that senario I upgraded to the XT40 and use the RT30 out back or as backup.Yes snatch block would do it but also halves the amount of line you have for pulling and sometimes you need alot of line

That's why you carry a rope to extend your snatch block to make up for the shortfall. People ask me why I carry so much crap in my little tickle truck, and I just reply when you need it you have it, when you don't have it is when you need it the most,.. better safe than sorry.

I rather be prepared and enjoy myself in the outdoors,.. plus extending the longevity of my winch keeps it reliable when I need to use it.

I really like the rule my old 4x4in buddies told me. Double the weight and your good to go. Then add a snatch block just in case.

I have a XT30 (3000 lb.) and it is all I need. Usually just throw the Rhino on it's side or winch one side up through some stuff under the tires, then the other side and drive out. but here is what I did & have not watered or Mud burn out the winch yet.

GO TO :::: Look What brought home with me!! and look at my set up if you want. it is the Rhino under porkhaaks thread
