Have a look in the Polaris thread and see how many guys have had engine issues in the last 3 year years with new sleds.

I think he already decided he doesn't want a Polaris.

Even though the ProClimb is narrower than the XM, to me it feels fatter. I find the XM more nimble and requires less effort to tip over. Both have good motors but the Etec sips oil after break in and barely uses any fuel going down the trail. Both suck it back wide open in the deep. With the XM you can buy a 154 and have more track on the snow than the ProClimb 162. I don't really like the Cat vertical steering but that is personal preference and could swing your decision. I like the ProClimb colors this year better than the XM. I don't know if I'm really helping here.

I think for anyone coming from a non-current model there will be a small learning curve to a new machine, so adapting to a new machine will be required reqardless of brand choice. So the dealer you can get the best service at would be my choice, for me it was Polaris, its nice when you walk into the dealer and the parts, sales, and service people know you by name, so I continue to spend my money there.

Last year was my very first season sledding and I bought an XM. I found it to be so easy to ride, I was able to do stuff that it had taken my buddies a few years to do. Love the sled, and from the rmk and the couple different cats I rode, I preferred my xm.

I have a 2012 Summit with the 800 E-Tec and 154" track. Always amazes me where I can go but I am not a real aggressive rider either having just got back into the sport as well. The XM Chassis turned it up a notch (or 3 apparently) in the handling department but I don't have any issues with my current setup either...but I will install the T-Motion kit on the strength of commentary on this website. The engine is amazing. The 154 set up is adequate for anything I have the guts to try but I would still probably get a 163 if I were buying a replacement. As to the other 3, I have a 95 Polaris SKS that has 9000 K and still runs like a top. The Cat and Yamaha I had were problematic but the technology has changed so much since then that probably shouldn't factor into your decision. Pick your fave and have fun.

I had the same problem a few months ago trying to decide which mountian sled to go with, I was on the fence with the proclimb and XM and it came down to dealer and the fact that I rode a xm that year, I thought the XM was so much fun to ride in the steep and deep and the fit and finish is second to none, Also if your buying a brand new machine the warranty on the skidoo is 3 years for in season model and if u snowchecked u could get 4 years, to me that says something about build quaility and reliability! Arctic cat I think was 1 or 2 years! Arctic cat does have a great 800 motor but im not totally sold on the chassis yet! from what ive researched!! I am planning on tryin one this coming season to see how it is but for now its the Xm !

Really need to try all three, I'm going xm after trying all three but it's more the dealer here is better than the pro dealer as I liked the rmk's agility a lot but it felt underpowered to the xm chassis and I know the Polaris dealer doesn't stand behind they're product very well

The doo cuz it has a google warmer and other storage! And if it is a mountain sled go with the longest track u can get! Flotation, stopping down hills is better you can boondock at a slower pace and ride in the trees slower! You don't need to keep it pinned all the time but u still can if you want!
I think they would all be great sleds but I find most sleds out their are doo easy to find parts in any sled town and the storage is nice to see in a sled agen!

My local doo dealer is garbage but we do have a good one about 45 mins away, the cat dealer is owned by some new people but they seem very helpful and friendly. what are your guys' thoughts on the 2014 Summit X vs 2014 M8000 limited? those are the two I'm really looking hard at.

The cat comes with a rear storage bag and goggle warmer aswell and plus I like the telescoping bars a lot. just not sure if I want to commit to a sled just off of nice features over the ride

One thing to consider is resale value. Guys are getting close to $13000 for used 2013 xm. Dealers are having a hard time getting that for brand new leftover 2013 proclimbs. The Msrp on the two are very close. I demoed a Xm last year and it took me 5 minutes to get use to. I hated the xp and the rev but i love the xm.

Yah but if you get a smoking deal on a cat who cares is you get less used, you paid less new.

My 163 pro was 12,350 the doo dealers quoted me $14,200 no assembly fee, 14,000 for the other plus assembly fee. So if i get $1650 less than a 14 doo in 2015-2016 i dont care.

I got a similar quote but when you add the extended warranty to the Polaris to match the 4 years doo has the price was within $200 so I stuck with the doo even though the Polaris had me looking hard.

Drive the 45 minutes and buy the Summit XMX 154, you don't need a 163 on these new xm's...that whole tree flotation thing was pre-xm stuff. Plus, if your buddies are running 154's, then it's always more fun too match everything up, it makes it all more even. My crew are all running 163's because we are plus 200 lb, so that's why I run a 163.

I don't really like how the doo makes you stand basically on top of the skis I kinda like being more at the back. is that supposed to give you more leverage to chuck it over? or do some people just prefer that style?

And what are your guys' thoughts on track lengths I am a small guy so would it benefit me to get the long track and maybe not get stuck as much or to get the shorter track and have more maneuverability. does it make a major difference between the two?
