So the gf doesnt want to ride her bike in the sand all day and im tired of whoops. Damn, brule is out till mon or tues with another friend i guess. Anybody have any other recommendations? She has a CRF250 and im on a banshee. Not looking for any crazy mud or waterholes/rivers to cross lol. Some nice trails to ride would be great. Never been to any of these places towards the mountains and would really like to.

I'm going to assume that most places are pretty muddy after all the rain we've had. I was in Rocky 2 weeks ago and it was pretty slick, I had a he!! of a time hopping greasy logs and rocks, etc. Sand would be the best now as it is moist and easier to get through. Think i'm going to Vega on Saturday, I hear there's a bit of everything but mostly sand. Haven't been yet, probably one of the only local areas I haven't been to.

Vega is fun. If you look you will see flagging tape that they use on the scrambles out there and it can be a lot of fun. Make sure yoy have your reg and insurance on ya though. The cops have been out there the last few times we have gone but as long as you have that you're ridin again within a minute

After Hinton turn left to Cadomin and try the Box Canyon falls trail. You have to go another 30 min down the road from Cadomin but the trails are great, the falls trail isn't to bad, a few little climbs up and down the creek crossings, not really any heavy - just make sure it hasnt rained for a day or 2 before hand. My son on a CRF70 made it all the way. There are 2 falls, Crystal on the way and the Box Canyon falls at the end. The scenery is amazing, as you have woods then it opens up and you have almost vertical walls on either side of you (granted your hundreds of feet away from them)

Drive past Cadomin until you get to the Cardinal Divide go down the other side and at the bottom on the right a little ways in there is a kiosk with a map - park there. That is the trail. There is one creek crossing thats about 15-25ft wide but its not very deep (one year it was dry) the rest of the creeks are little.

Some of these are from late Sep so there is snow and ice.

When it's warm though its even better there! Being a long weekend there will be others but nothing like Brule (less volume and type of riders) and you may get shown other trails that are in the area (behind Mountain Park Cemetary and old staging area there are lots of mild trails as well)

I hope you make it out!

(Have to get off your bikes and walk over to the creek but there are some neat chutes and minifalls along the creek)

(Crystal Falls - look for the sign or path at a turn in the trails on the way - it's a little hidden)

so brule lake is a good place to quad or what?

We make yearly trips out there, it does get a little boring after a while that's why I only go once a year. Last year my bike was being rebuilt so I rode a TRX700 and it was definitely fun on a quad, much different then being on two wheels without a paddle haha. Think our annual brule fest is being planned for September sometime. I definitley wouldn't go out there on long weekends either.. too busy IMO.

It was great fun on the quad. Little challenging with the bikes at times but if you head away from the lake in the trees there are lots of hard packed trails with some sand. I went sat with the gf, and sun with the gf and another buddy. Then the supervision left and me and my buddy rode monday. Ran into a guy on the beach with a sideXside with his kids out swimming. Other then that not a soul to be seen or heard. It was great. I ran paddles the first day until i thrashed one then holeshots the next 2 days. Neither bike had paddles. Paddles make it easier out there but def not necessary.
