There were $hit piles for miles and miles... Lol

I spotted those wild horses down in the meadow then saw 4 more out near Miskiki Lake.

I hear yha on the furry critter track as I should of taken the time to take pictures of the Wlof/ or Cat tracks when I returned to my truck at Chungo Out-Fitters, but I was on the move to connect the gps dots on the Cardinal side that night. It looks like a ohv ridders dream on that side of the river West of Small Boy camp, so plan is to poke away at it some more on that West up-strean side.

As you mention earlier that it is to far East to ride crossing over FTR, My thought in a test ride is to see how far South from FTR Brazoo Bridge it is to first Husky cut-line that "might lead West into the Chungo again. There is a medium size pipe line that links up in there as stuff needs to flow out of there. "Just a thought is all."

My pal camps/ quads from from lower camp sites at river bridge making me think that I've over looked a practical access. So many ohv trails on the North side of the river should lead to something.

Very nice on that side MK, hope to explore more on next days off since your idea of bush-wacking is game plan,,, Chain saw was working double over time on this last outing. LOL.

I have 3 more days of posting on the Lost in The West Ride thread yet.

Got the gps files down loaded into Base-Camp, now I need to figure out how to move them to Google Earth.

Most of those lines out that way are nice and wide. Even the ones not traveled have trees small enough to drive over. I did see a line that was all willowed in but so many other lines i can take.
The first time i do this trip i'll do the best i can to stay on cutlines, but because i can't be wasting fuel, i'll b on a mission to get to Nordegg. Then if it turns out it's something others want to try and do i'll go out a few times and mark/map the best/safest most scenic route possible.

Hey which logging road were you talking about here?

And is that the same as the "Canyon Creek as you call it? Is that the actual name or is it the Cardinal River you're talking a about?

I saw a slide that was near grave flats and that could be the one that covered the road.

I'll look back at my gps track form a ride 2 weeks ago to see if this would be to the East of what you found MK, big swamp down bellow, lots of fallen timbers and steep climbs. Ha.

I was stopped in my tracks when the food thought came on.

There was much bush-wacking too get to this spot from East to West as its a "Loooooooong" ride off old grass covered road in.
Maybe 25 km from small bridge if not further.

This is the IGS marker from the East side. LOL. Indian Guiding System as it goes with the saying...

The Horse is alive and kicking.... All 100plus hp of it. What a crazy wet and cold summer though! I'm not sure this trip will happen this year because of it.

She would be tuff going after all the rain we had down here our way, one stint was 48 hours none stop in 10 minute cycles.

Creeks in some areas are now rivers, normal rivers are raging torrents.

Pal just got back from the steep mountain areas with pony's as many OHV and horsey trails are washed out,,, not, more south of hwy 11 in the limited areas that is.

Very interesting year is playing out.

Another update. So I put my mechanical horse back together. She ran great and I spent 25 days out at Cadomin. Put about 600km's on while I was out there and cleared a pile of trail that nobody seemed to be using. Had a stray bullet miss my dog by an inch or so and I have the whole thing on video. Someone shot a 22 up in the air is my guess. There was a pretty rowdy bunch camped a few miles down from me shooting off guns and blowing stuff up. Ah to be young again... Lol

Anyway my quad is not going to work for me for this big trip to Nordegg. If it was just me fine but with my aging 12.5 year old dog I don't think it's going to work out. She rode behind me all over that Ruby Falls/Cadomin area last summer but it was slow going and not fun.
So last winter I bought a not running 500 dollar Chinese sxs lol. I figured I'd make this trip really challenging...
I have confidence in my self and my ability to modify the machine to make it somewhat reliable but I'm concerned that something stupid will fail like a front or rear diff for no reason. It's cloned after the Yamaha Rhino which was a good design but as we all know Chinese stuff is not built with the greatest materials.

I may just sell it and a few other things and buy a new machine. Either a Polaris General or A Maverick Trail.

It's getting pretty late to be doing it since I don't have a reliable machine yet but you never know. Early Septemper might be a good time because at least then I could hunt grouse along the way to help with the food supply.

We'll see how it goes....
