THANKS BOOTS and thanks everyone for your comments . i had no idea what kind of response i would get . i appreciate all of them..80 % of this is by hand , and the other 20% is time spent on internet , beer breaks , and alot of head scratching
it is cut with a hand held plazma....... no cnc table here . that is too perfect......any thing thicker than 3/8s i use a baby torch. i am embarrassed to say what i got for this project .. I am still crying in my beer & kicking my ass.......... this pic is for TTPOWERSPORTS ....... sorry we never hooked back up , but i was thinking that because eveything you wanted on a 4 foot saw blade will not fit , maybe you would be interested in this ( 2 4 foot saw blades , or a 4x8 sheet of steel with barn wood frame ) thanks again eveyone:beer::beer:

I have allmost completed an acerage gate . just need to weld on hinges , and paint after the install . i have about 70 hrs into this ....... just wondering what some of you think it is worth , as the customer has allready paid. and i think that i have not charged near enough.......... :d:d it is 18 feet wide

That gate is wicked, ponyboy;) I'd have to say 7500+ for it, design, labor and materials in the price.
Hats off to you. Nice work:beerchug:

Man hard to put a price on that...... but you have the gift....... see now theres the difference between a tradesman and a craftsman.........Good on ya, I only wish I had a property for a gate like that.

did you cut all those things out with a plasma? or torch? if so thats impressive and deffinetly takes time. but i think 6000+ might be steep since you COULD cut that complete sheet out on a plasma table or waterjet very quickly. then again that aint cheap either.

I'm thinking that wouldn't be a fast cut on a waterjet either, 6-8 hours maybe, plus design time?

I am an estimator for a custom sheet metal shop (and a sheet metal mechanic) 70 hours labor = 5400.00 imo. Of coarse i have alot of equipment so my overhead is quite high, so maybe you could go a little lower.

with a water jet or cnc plasma , it is real fast , and real good with virtually no clean up. design time would take the longest , after that you just feed the machine , press a button and go for coffee . ........ my design time is with a soap stone , and a  or 4:d.......... one day i will have one of those:dunno:

Incredible work ponyboy, very impressive!!

I'm not sure what you used for material there, but even with a jet, eliminating the cleanup time etc., the cut time will not be fast. You have a tremendous amount of detail there, lots of starts and stops, your not looking at a continuous cut. It would be done in a day rather than the 50 or 60 hrs of your cut time, but a long ways from 4 minutes :d

Anyway you look at it, the work you put into it makes your gate worth way more. Love to see your pics on the site
