Ric, I have the Contour HD 1080. Got things set up ready to go (sled mount, helmet mount, and goggle mount) but haven't had the time to go out and use it. Maybe get some time thru the holidays to experiment a little.

No preview or screen to see until one gets home but that shouldn't be a problem. Just take the footage and then it has to be edited anyways. It is the editing that makes the video as long as the shots are good. They were blowing them out at $139 on backcountry.com. A great deal for those of us who live close to the border. :xmas2004_15:

I have the Contour 1080P. I'm really happy with the quality of the picture and the camera. The biggest thing that turned me off of the GoPro when I was looking, was how big of a profile you have when they are mounted on your helmet. We have one friend who was boondocking and had his GoPro wiped off by a branch ( somewhere out there, there is a squirrel filming himself :) ) Whereas I have the Contour mounted on the side of my helmet, and it has a pretty low profile. I usually run mine on the 720p, I found that the 1080 couldn't really keep up with the higher speeds, meaning the picture got choppy. Now, that being said, mine is a couple of years old, so maybe the newer ones will work better on the 1080p. Be nice to hear from somebody with the fancy shmancy new gps, bluetooth, garage door opener model :)
