Here is mine:

Riding the sport quads at Mountain Park (Cadomin) a few years back. They had an open pit mine that was shaped like a half-pipe that was easily 100' deep. We were highmarking the sides back and forth, going higher and higher until we could pop over the top of one side with about 4' of vertical sheer rock. I did it a few times on my LTZ 400 no prob. They I tried on my wife's 300ex. I stalled just as I was about to crest the top. I had cleared the vertical part (thank God) but was not to the flat spot so I started to roll back and the brakes would not hold me. I managed to get over the bars and shove my feet in the the rear tires and I balanced there. I called for help, as there were people watching from the top. They didn't realize I was in trouble until I started yelling at them. With a little pull, we saved the machine....and my arse.

There are photo's somewhere...I'll start digging.

Now, let's see what u got...

Got washed down a creek near Rocky Mountain House in the Cow Lakes area. Went too close to the fast water on my Outlander and I was gone, held onto the quad until we got tangled up in some willow roots on a bend in the creek after a hundred yards or so.

Tipped and rolled mine. It rolled 3x into some willows. I managed to get out of the way. My mistake. Only broke the lens cover on main headlight, which has since been replaced. I am definitely more cautious now, although I was always careful before, it only takes ones little error or misjudgement on your part to have an accident. First mishap in more than 5 years of riding.

Biggest jump so far was little over 100' but my worst scare was the first time I played bumber cars in the air going over a 65' double....both of us landed it but I know I came down on one rear wheel bounced off the track on two wheels, managed to get back on the track but had to roll the next two doubles .....shook it off then back on the thottle.

Last year before the Snow and Mud Campout riding with Murminator, Dragonlady, and Sumx54 in the rain to set up the Geocache. Riding the new quad (less than 24 hrs) and crested a large hill and I was unfamiliar with riding a big bore bike, it kicked sideway and proceeded to roll and flip down the hill. With help got it back to the top strapped on the broken boxes etc, shook it off and continued. About 1/2 hour later was coming out of a little bit off camber ditch (done it before of the chino bike) and slid a little on the wet grass and headed for the creek, judgement call to give a shot of gas and try to land in the creek on all four........the log laying in the creek thought different.....stopped very abruptly and did the over the handlebars flip and landed on my back in the creek. Lower A arm and CV boots done in less than 24 hours and plenty of self doubt in my riding ability....and then I had to face the wife.

Lots of help to get the quad out and sort of repaired and drove most of the way back to camp until A Arm collapsed completely. With assistance from the fellow S&M er's got the quad back to camp on the backof my flat deck (thanks DL) found parts on friday and rode the rest of the weekend.

Thanks again to the people I was riding with in helping me through my day of carnage, I have since honed my skills in riding a big bore quad.

My 2nd ride on my Scrambler less then 12 hours on it we went threw some dense underbrush which in turn tore one of my hub lock lines out so when we hit a long steep hill I flew at it with speed, about 3/4 of the way up I hit hard pack which pulled me hard to 1 side out of the groove fliped me over backwards and down we came,I never let go[i could picture my quad tumbling down for over 200 feet ]so I hung on and me and it slide abou 40 ft down on my back with Scrambler on the top,Ahhh thank god for gear,my back had abit of road rash but me and the quad were both relitively unscathed, that was 1rst of many with this quad,If you dont crash once in awhile your not tryin hard enough.LOL

hmm.. going down a hill and my tie rod bent in half. my bike stood right on end for about 2 seconds deciding if it was going to pile drive me or sit back down. felt like an hour i was looking at the ground in terror. and then the bike turned and sat down sideways on the hill and put me on 2 wheels before coming to a stop finally.

that was pretty freaky.

I've come off bumps where i rode on the front 2 tires for a good 10-20 feet that is pretty freaky as well.

but id have to say the scariest moment while riding a atv was something that happened to a person i was towing . in fact it was this may long.. around Midnight in the pitch dark.

we were towing a bike slowly backwards because he snapped a tie rod. and the bike had this tendency to fish tail a bit once in a while.

so i come to a off camber but fairly steep hill. and slowly descended. all the sudden i see in the shadows "head lights from friends behind me" the bike takes off sideways. i look back and that bike is picking up speed and it was whipping sideways well once it hit the end of the rope it just flipped and tumbled right onto the guy that was steering it.. he jumped off from what i could see and i watched this bike roll down on top of him.. i jumped off before it had even stopped, run up and flipped it over to check if he was injured he said he was ok.

honestly i thought i might have killed him i'm guessing he wasn't on the brakes while descending or they failed i dunno. but it freaked me out pretty good he was ok. which i'm not even quite sure was the truth because the guy had a few beer in em.

lesson learned though.. if your buddy breaks a tie rod and you don't have a spare .. park the bike go back and get a trailer and pull it in with a atv load the bike up and pull it out.. its not even close to safe to pull it backwards lol. and max speed when pulling it was like 5-10km's so it doesn't take much for the bike to go sideways and roll.

Please get some pictures - that would be great!

I think I know that spot. You arent supposed to be in that area correct since the changes years ago? Is it almost like a V shape with very little flat bottom in some spots? I think you can access it from the south down a side hill and there is a steel cable sticking out. We would highmark on bikes but those big sharp rocks are tough on tires. On one side at the top is that greavel road and the other the rocks stick out and then some trees.

I wanted to sneak back in there but not sure how the mine poeple would react?

Do you know if you can stil get to this peak (past where the coal shutes are - as we call that spot) withought the mine people fretting?

Here is a pic of the peak looking down (look close and there is a bike down there) :

I have rolled my quad only once thank God...but you said "scariest moment", that would have to be last sat. at Cadomin...relaxing on the shoreline at the Mcleod river, and seeing an adult Grizzly charging down the shoreline towards us. never felt a fear quite like that before. we jumped on our machines and revved them up, thankfully it did the trick, she stopped her charge and backed off, giving us enough time to get the hell out of there.

That would have violated some laws for me, the one about dumping human waste near a river as I would have lost bowel control seeing that!!

I've always wanted to see a bear out there but only when my machine is running.

Now I'm going to have 2nd thoughts on leaving the bikes/quad and going for a little hike!

How was the snow up there, did you get into any of the trails past the town?

A few years back night riding on my Scrambler....rippin' down a known trail May long weekend, headlights and Aux. lights blazing away. Deadfall tree laying lengthways on the trail with the pointy end pointing right at me....nothing for the lights to illuminate. Tree goes over tire and through right front fender, between my legs (I was standing....if I wasn't, I wouldn't be telling this tale), under the top bar on the rear rack, suspending the quad about a foot in the air. Want to talk 'close'? Tore my rain pants, my sweat pants, and my gontch.....left a tiiiiny red scrape between "the boys" and my leg. When my partners came around the bend, they see me dancing around in front of my quad (still running, lights on) with my head down between my knees (and I ain't flexable) checking to see if I'm all there.

Ever notice how much bigger bears are when you are on foot as opposed to inside a truck?

Think the scariest moment would have been for me about two years ago now just got the brute It was about midnight couple buddys desided to go racing down the road I was going pretty fast like WFO speedo read around 115 then this racing trike that I was catching up to really fast desided to pull out in front of me... not sure why I hammered on the breaks and cliped the back wheel on the trike. got tossed off the brute. I think the thing rolled over top of me but never hit me and cartwheeled in to the trees... did about 3800 worth of damages to it....

Last July going up a hill with some rock ledges hit the last ledge and quad stalled and started going backwards and turned sideways, managed to jump off and watched it barrel roll to the bottom. Bent handlebars and both racks. 2nd one was last Saturday. Buddy was stuck I went to back up and the back slid into a huge rut tipped over on its side and pinned my leg, thought that I had bust my leg at first, got lucky and just a deep bruise
