When i was 15-16 i had a Z-400. i was getting cocky taking gravel intersection corners at 80-90kmh+. This all stopped one day when i mis-judged a corner, and took it too fast. i ended up sliding farther than i expected and hit the grass on the side of the road my quad caught traction immediatly and i rolled into a ditch full of water (3-4 feet), the quad ended up on top of me and my shoe was caught in the nerf bars. I panicked and somehow managed to get my shoe off and get out from under the quad. that was more than enough of a lesson for me.

Scariest thing for me was when I was young, maybe 12, I rode an atv for the first time. It was an old Suzuki race quad and I had never been taught how to use it properly. Well I pin it, throttle got stuck, I didn't know what to do and drove straight into a big shed (trees on both sides so I couldn't get around it)going full speed. And to add to it, all we were using was a bicycle helmet! Luckily I didn't get hurt at all and kept on riding.

just topped my last one this weekend out at outwest. we were on a trail runnin along a hill with a steep drop on one side, whent to turn around and i got a tree stuck in my bumper. I leaned forward to try and pull it out, my knee hit the throttle and whent over the hill backwards. the quad fliped over me and my passenger three times( i think) and stopped on a trail. luckily i had my front roll bar on and and a box, i think the com bination of those saved us.

I was at my bud's place with my 300ex one time and we went back to the pit that was there, awesome place with some 100-200 foot tall hills, so I ripped on up the one, then my friend went up the other one with his 400 4x4, so then I went up after him with myn, but what I didn't realize is that 4x4's had been going up this hill enought to make really deep ruts, and I didn't have enough clearance, so about 5 feet from the top I suddenly stopped, rolled back, and caught, my front wheels were up in the air. I looked back and my skidplate had dug an inch right into the dirt and I was about to fall back. It takes about 2 minutes from the top of these hills to get back to the bottom, and my buddy just went up, so while I was up there shitting my pants he was just getting back. He came up and pulled on my grab bar and dug out my skid plate just in time, haha but he didn't get out of the way fast enough and on my roll back down I ran over his foot! XD!

My worst would have to be when a was 18, I was on a yfz 450 out at the local track and was getting a little brave after a few laps. came around a corner sideways and the rear end caught a rock in the ground sent me end the quad doing cart wheel down the track. I remember looking up and seeing the quad landing 2 feet from head. One surgery and steel plate in my shoulder i was all better. I have had more crashes than i can count but thats the worst.

7 yrs ago was rippen full throttle on the YFZ on a swowy winter road single file with two buddies. I was on the proper side of the road, came around a blind corner, and there were 2 guys on quads running side by side, I had no where to go but to lock horns with a 1986 trx250. i flew at least 30 feet of the quad in rolling fashion. I immediately got up and ran back to see if I had ripped off his leg. I didnt fewf. turns out it was his first time on a quad and last probably. that was the first of my bad luck day. i then got a ride to get my truck to pick up my quad. i stopped at home and rolled two fatties(dont do this anymore) to relieve some stress, had them in my lower cup holder. started driving, notice my tail gate fell off the truck and was dragging by a cable, slammed on the brakes, and a thing of sprite fell over and soaked my carpets and yes my cupholder. EFFFF I yell. so anyways, drive out down the snowy road my quad was on with my truck in 2wd for some reason, and meet a 3500 diesel towing a load of fire wood, so i move over and the snow sucks me in, and voila im stuck in the ditch in the middle of no where. luckily he went and unhooked the trailer and came back. so that was my great day, and you know what, it served me right since it was the day of my wifes 16yr old first cousins funeral. I couldnt go to it because of trade school I couldnt miss. it was a bad karma day for me

The first time I had my banshee out close to the open creek dam...There is a large ridge you have to cross to get into the trails, and the water runs down the trail and carves out really deep ruts in the hills. I had crested the hill and started descending down the other side. I was picking up speed pretty good, straddling the ruts and I just touched the rear brake. It dragged my rear wheels into the ruts, followed by the front and when the front wheels dropped in it wedged the wheels sideways, twisted the bars and threw me over the bars followed by the banshee cartwheeling down after me. I came to a stop on my stomach on top of a large downed tree, with the banshee on top of me. Luckily it landed with the seat on my back and my buddies came running and lifted it off me. Just ended up with a few bruises but I snapped a quick pic before we flipped it back onto 4 wheels...glad it was not my 4x4.

Was playing with our little Honda 350ES and came out of a mud hole in one of out pastures and turned hard started going too fast and hit an old drain ditch (20" deep and probably about 2' deep") it was surrounded by tall grass and they get nice and hidden. Anyways hit the damn thing doing probably 40-50 and the whole front end went in. I went over the handle bars not sure how the azz end didn't come up and over to. I hit my head off either the racks or the handle bars and my legs off the racks. Dont know quite how it happens but next thing I remember is laying on my back looking at the sky and saying those words that we all have said while riding "what the fawk was I thinking"

When I cased a jump on my YFZ and it flipped over top of me and winded me. Luckily all I broke was my pinky. First day of wearing the Leatt brace too.

Scared the crap out of me... Second time I did it too with out a camera. :(

It wasn't by any means my scariest moment on a quad but your story reminds me of a tree I took to the chops :d it's on film in this video at 1m 5s
Broke my goggles, my glasses and gave me a couple black eyes. It's shot in slow mo but I was actually clipping on it pretty good. RIGHT OUT OF NO WHERE...BLAM!

I took my 'lil sister out for her very first ride in BC last summer. It was night and we were descending down a gravel switchback road. I looked behind me and she wasn't there! There were only two ways to go straight up or straight down. Down was about 300' so I figured she was probably dead. ...never been so freaked in all my life.

I retraced my tracks to find her running down the road hysterically. It turns out she did go over the edge, rolled several times with the quad, lost her helmit as her head bounced off a tree, and came to a stop about 40-50' down when the quad got wedged between two trees with her underneath it. Knowing I would fear the worst, she quickly slid out from the quad and climbed back to the road so I could finder her. Oddly, she wasn't traumatized by the crash at all, she was hysterical becuase she thought she "killed" my machine!

All she had were a few bruises, and after recovering the machine the next morning, she hopped back on and we finished our ride without incident. How cool is that?

Spring 2005...Pecos and I sneak out for a night ride. Again heading down a known trail in the dark....apparently a tree fell over the trail at chin level or so. I was on my 650 AC and it caught me in the chin....knocked cold and laying on the trail. Pecos comes around the corner on his little Big Bear and it catches him in the nose....which thankfully causes him to swerve and miss me (laying on the ground). we get back to camp...have a beer or two...he goes in his trailer and his wife sees him, "WERE YOU GUYS FIGHTING?!!?" HAHAHAHAHA.
