gorman in **** vis would be a challange ... all alpine with many moraines and funky features to catch out the unsuspecting punter ...

the secret stash I opened up last season certainly had some challanges, epic avy debri in several places, epic slide paths, crazy side hills and creek climb to a waterfall is all before the alpine meadows open up to the goodies and the mega bowls ...
I'm not sure when that trail will get put in this coming season. It was late feb last season on a thin snow pack but I'm concerned a big snow pack might make the cut block side hill a death zone. Maybe a BIG snow pack and we're strait up the creek from the bridge ... I'm drooling just dreaming about it !!!

it took 3 guys and 5 days to build, it still needs some chain saw action.

You guys need to come ride creston if you think those areas are hard to get into! We have a couple areas that are pretty interesting to get into. The ride into Monk lake goes up through super tight trees on a pretty good angle. Definitely nothing there resembling a trail. Breaking trail into John Bull mountain can definitely take some time and patience as well when the snow is good. Ive ridden all of the areas above, and Creston definitely gets my vote. Id be happy to show anyone around if you want to come check it out.

Invitation/challenge acccepted ;)

Sounds great. I sledded with you that one day out by Jaffrey, past the sawmill. Cant remember the area name. You were on your turbo Nytro I think. Wasnt the best riding though that day.

Some really cool riding areas in Creston, and the best thing is there is really only about 20-30 locals riding here and no one really comes from other places. We probably have 10 different areas or more to go into so there is ALWAYS fresh snow to be had.

3 pages and none of you guys have been to the Kootenays???

I don't want to get started on challenges.......

If the main trail wasn't groomed perfect, I'm sure there would be some challenges

Going into "Tundra" isn't bad, but coming out can be very tricky. Heading to "Top of the World" is always a good ride, and not for the inexperienced!!
The "Bone Yard" has some incredible pulls through the trees and very technical. Nothing long for a pull, but on and off the throttle lots.
Dropping in behind Boothes Cabin.... (twin lakes???) is a nice little goat trail..... LOL

But I will have to agree with "westridge" It sure was fun with a 583, 136. LOL

In Elkford, it is fun getting up the main trail when it is first broke in. We normally ride for a month before there is enough snow for the groomer. The challenge for the groomer is the bottom valley conditions. The big challenge is breaking the trail into those basins or getting in after a good dump.

Always a challenge, in Elkford, crossing the avi debris. Many people have not made it and it is on the main groomed trail. Go figure......

Not to mention, the Fernie area and some of the out of the way places with a 3' dump. Even the pipeline to the Notch can be a beotch with the right amount of snow and no tracks.

The most challenging areas are always the best areas, this thread looks like a round about way of getting our best areas mentioned. Westridge / Oasis & yes Horsey Creek are a few of Valemounts gems as far as challenging to get into, but there are many challenging spots at a few other areas that seperate the crowd, cheers

not my intent to find secret area's I have been to most mentioned and have heard of 99% of them so far. Every time I go out I get exposed to terrain I have not traveled even in the more traditional area's
