I don't always have my iPhone in the hills, but I do ALWAYS have this :
Ortovox S1 avalanche beacon (scanner) | Backcountry and Avalanche Safety Gear | BackcountrySafety.com

Sent from my iPad when I should be sledding.

I have a little BCA one too, but I always carry my phone, never know when you might need it and where you might get reception, I've been surprised to find reception in places you wouldn't think. A lot of smartphones have GPS now too and a compass built right in, good survival tool (other than the battery life thing...).

The new quick drive rocks. All other manufacturers will soon copy it.

Uhh I dunno about copying...

Perhaps changing over to a similar system.. It would be beneficial for the aftermarket companies like C3 to make a deal with OEM to supply at a mass production cost... then at least the R&D are DONE, it has an idler pulley so you don't have to buy special tools, and gearing options!!

The belt system is definitely an advantage, just because of the inertia of spinning motion of slowing down to speeding up. That all takes energy. FACT.
