so true! when my dad was involved in Revy back in the early 70's they had some hot sleds.......TNT 440.....LOL duel carbs! lol ya what ever..... they had like 30-40 hp and no track! how did they ever get to the cabin?

back then in sicamous..... we used Alpine Twin Tracks with a groomer. sleds started to get some power in the mid 80's .....you could get a long track that was a 136 but still had the 3/4 inch paddle (if you could call it a paddle lol) everyone ran those plastic bolt on paddles! what on earth were the sled companies thinking........if it goes on snow make a track that would get you through the snow lol..... we have come a long way over the years.......has anyone thought what sleds will be like in 20 years?

i often think about this too. i raelly dont see the tracks getting any longer than 174 purely for handleing. i think they will just become more efficient. however i would like to see a 180hp stocker. dont think the greenies would like that too much though.

a friend i ride with was telling me back in the 80s they were just happy and lucky to make it to the cabin. plastic paddles and all haha

one of my first mountain sleds was a 1985 skidoo SS25 which was the same as a Formula SS......it had the 462 liquid Rotax with the rotary Valve.....no IFS of any kind.....just leafs....I streatched it to a 136 and bolt some 1 1/2 plastic paddles and put some wide plastic ski skins........it was a fun sled and it was a work out to get to the top of the hill.......had to go everytime behind the house or it got to deep to get to the top........We did get way more snow back then too.......it used to snow 2 -3 feet at a time in revy.....when is the last time it snowed that much in one dump?

it doesnt make sence to go bigger than a 174....but it does make sence to get really light weight 4 strokes, or a 2 stroke that will stay together with over 200 HP from the factory with out any mods? really is this asking too much? any one can climb a hill now.... but I tip my hat to the old guys that were get up the hills in the old days....with old Iron!
