Your absolutely correct! Safety first! Courteous calls before heading up and during transition of any road that has a posted frequency is normal.
operation.
Most companies never remember who they did or did not give permission for their frequency use anyways.
Proper radio ettiquette and you will never have any problems.
The same radio frequencies are given out in differnt provinces, so it is not uncommom to have a freq programmed in as say HUSKY 1 and find out that it may be SIESMIC 2 in saskatchewan.

Glad the info was helpful Tuesday and if you have more questions post away and I will try to assist.

I have noticed that as well. Some freq is said seismic 3 and its a freq used in bc on a road. Kinda confusing as well

I believe the reason for finding the same frequency for a few different companies is that when a company asks for a frequency they are given one for a certain area. Now they might move around into range of each other, but that's where they tones come in they may or may not use a tone to eliminate interfering with any other users on that frequency. My guess is that a BC logging outfit wouldn't bother with a tone because they would never end up in Saskatchewan.
As for keystone logging we where up there talking to a truck driver they said they had one more day and that was in December. So sounds like they are done just in time for the caribou closures!

Your right, logging is done on Keystone. Still no room to turn around enclosures though. After this recent snowfall a guy will make it up with good tires and a deck but if it continues chains will be next and then the dreaded 11 km of whoop te dooooos!
The road was already starting to become icy on the switchbacks last Thursday from guys spinning tires.
They will not continue to plow if all equipment is removed.

Andrew Davies is engineering officer in revelestoke 250 837 7713. I was told that the frequency posted is for both send/recieve and there is no tone, they dont care what radio you have just prefer to have communication. He also said they dont mind if you follow a trucker as well. If the trucker pulls over you better as well.

I will test out my radio next trip.
