My husband and i are heading out for a trip this weekend and cant decide between lakeland (east) or by vega, looking for somewhere we can right our quads to the campsite so i dont have to load the quads up for the night and take them off again, heard that you can camp at the Vega staging area?

You can camp at vega but might be loud. I haven't camped there before. Another thing to watch for is the ferry. Depending on your trailer you might scrape going on or off the ferry.

When you cross the ferry keep driving until the power line. Turn to the right and you can either camp there or go in a little more and there is a road to the right. Go up 100 yards or so and there is a better spot to camp on your left. Sometimes it can be busy and other times it is dead.

There is a harescramble dirt bike race this weekend in vega. I believe based right out of the Timeu staging area

Can't ride on the south side of the road they can impound your machine.
Lots of random campsites around that area. And the ferry redid the on off ramps in the last year or to. They are better for loads now.

The hare scramble usually takes off from the camping area at the oil lease. Or that's where they did when I raced it years ago. If it's 4x4 quads I would go else where, those whoops get gay fast on a 4x4 quad! And make sure you have your paper work all up to date. You will get checked

It started in the big sand pit and the logs section was before the lease site

Rode Vega, 1st time up there. I loved it. Hoping to try camping up there next summer. It was a great day.
A few tight spots where the Gator simply did not fit. (58" wide). Other then that it was great.

Rode Vega yesterday (on dirt bikes) , it's starting to freeze up. Almost time to put the studded tires on, great day.

How much does it cost to use the ferry?

IS there a way to drive around to avoid the ferry?

What about a decent camp spot there?? (location)

The ferry is free. Drive off the ferry and continue on the gravel road for a bit. You should see plenty of spots to camp on your right hand side.

You can also go through fort Assiniboine if you want to skip the ferry. As a bonus there is a decent dump station in fort Assiniboine to hit on your way home.
