Was out there last week and had a great day, can’t believe I’ve never been there before, only an hour away from my house. Must of been a good wind storm as we came across lots of downed trees and cleaned up a bunch of them. Didn’t see a soul all day and put on about 60 km.

Thanks for cleaning up the downfall, nothing worse then coming in hot around a corner to a downed spruce when your on a bike. This time of year is a great time if you never been past the river on main power line, lot more trails back there and water should be low enough to cross.

yes, small river/creek crossing just past the skag mud hole straight north on power line. Another way to the north is to the far east right along the big river but last time i went down there it was quad terrain, not fun on a bike. trails are a lot smoother and not whooped out.

You can’t go to much past Deep creek then you hit private property. Or if you go farther you’re better off talking you truck and driving to the trails farther up.

Also judging by your second pic at the top of that hill (i call that the mini pop can) your right close to the trail by the river. Almost far east of the river you can go. stay at the bottom of that hill and follow past all the single lines to the left and you'll see a trail about 5-600 yards that goes to the right..it gets hairy but on your rig im sure it would be fun.

Cool thx for all the info, definitely gonna spend some time out there this year, nice to have something close so I don’t have to run the whitecourt skag as much, rode all day and had no grass wrapped around anywhere, nice change lol

Yah there a few cabins around the area. The land that you hit is the same guy that owns Linda’s motor inn in Fort Assiniboine. If you want some more exploring go north past Timue hall if you stay on that road you will hit the power line again, there’s trails east in there that are better for sxs and quads less whoops and more mud. But there’s the odd one that’s open and smooth enough you can wind a bike out down them.

is there decent spots to camp there with a holiday trailer?

and can you get to these spots without having to cross on the ferry?

You can get there from Fort Assiniboine no crossing the ferry. Lots of random campsites big enough for a trailer.

I've been warned and told not to even attempt the Ferry with the holiday trailer, I've always gone up through Fort Assiniboine, also that way coming back there's a sewer dump.

The last few years have been good for the ferry. They redid the ramps a few years ago.

I have a 31' bumper pull, we take it across the ferry everytime we head out there. As mentioned above the ramps were fixed up, but when the water level is high there is still a bit of a angle as it creates a V at the bottom of the ramp. We have actually had to use a couple blocks of wood under the tires once so we didn't scrap. Was no big deal as I had a few blocks in the box of the truck.

agreed, no where near as bad as it was with a trailer. 36' toy hauler on and off the ferry no problem last year, surprisingly what a few truck loads of dirt built up on the other side can do. Years ago the ol guy that ran the ferry used to have a tractor on the off ramp just in case... a pack of export A smokes would make you his best friend haha

I've see semi's loaded up to farm machinery, your holiday trailer is no problem. It cuts 40 min of driving crossing from vega side.

It was a concern at one time because the ramp angles were so steep - at very least, it would take out your jacks. However, they fixed this a few years ago and it it is not really a concern anymore.

I cant wait to try out vega this summer. I will likely head up there in August for 4-5 days with my trailer & quads. the pics in this thread make it look like a great place for some nice scenery!
