First off, Gretzky was 10x the player the sedin's are. Second, he was good enough to have protection right on his line so he didn't need to be able to take hits.....Most people were to scared to hit him in the first place, and if they did they'd be hit even harder. And third, it was a lot different game, with all the new rules, etc it is a lot tougher to protect players.

That is the dumbest thing posted in this thread. Gretzky addmitted himself he probably wouldn't have been able to put up those numbers in today's game. Clearly you have some obstructed view of the game to say malkin, crosby and ovi take hits and it doesnt throw them off their game. How many games has crosby played this year? Ovi gets a hard hit then takes a suspension on the next shif. Malkin has done well but there is no room for a etc, etc etc on your quote. Who led them to the cup last year? Who won the last two art ross'? mmmmm they must suck.......

last yrs presidents cup winners are 2 points behind detroit for top spot in the NHL and we also have a game at hand. Canucks also sitting atop the NHL power rankings, and have the most goals for in the NHL this season so far. I think they have a damn good chance of picking up where they left off and winning the cup. numbers dont lie. they have a solid team.
