Excellent snow out there folks, but please play as safe as possible this weekend and stick to the lower bowls and meadows

The new snow has brought the steeper slopes to a dangerous point. Numerous natruals and sled triggered size 1 and 2's seen today with much larger potential. Witnessed some very bad choices from the sledding community today, use your head and play safe out there !

snowed all thurs/fri and sunny with pow sat/sun put on a lot of miles. waistdeep was in the vocabulary.

i agree on the not so smart moves. example sidehilling under a hugh overhang. or himarking next to multislides. some will never learn. seen 2 avys. one not so bad... the other could have been life-threatening

We are also heading out Fri - Sun, heard lots of Avy activity in the area, AV Canada has downgraded since the weekend but still looking for any current info. Thinkin' if one sticks to treed terrain, meadows and lower bowls a safe and fun weekend will be had by all.

Well, after raking my lawn yesterday, we received about an inch in town last night and the hills look like they are still receiving a dose of the white stuff. The temps have dropped a bit, so hopefully the trails will be holding up well in the spring weather.

This last weekend was a bad one, with many close calls and one friend of the snowmobile community taken. Please stay off the hills, it is not the time of the season for Highmarking. That being said, there are many safe areas to play and get stuck while still making it home at the end of the day. Chappell Creek is a great example of tonnes of snow and lower risk, as is the lower elevation terrain in Clemina.

There are lots of choices out there that will allow you to still participate in the pass time you love and make it home. Please make the smart choices.

It looks to be a nice weekend weather wise. Use caution this weekend and be very leary of the steeper slopes. It’s a great time to work on your technical sledding skills, instead of hammering the biggest hill. Please review the Canadian Avalanche Associations ratings and statements for the North Columbia area before heading out for your ride and above all use good judgment regarding travel and play areas while out for your days ride.

Have fun, but most of all, Ride Safe and Ride Smart !!!

Chappell is groomed this evening and will be a great ride for tomorrow or saturday. Allan and CLemina are on the normal schedule.

Our group is sledding Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday next week. What are the conditions like out there? Also.. is there anywhere to pick up some good maps of the area?? It'd be great if someone could recommend some safe spots to play in Clemina, Allan, and Chappell. Thanks..
