Hi Putting a set of V Force 3 reeds in my 05 800Ho Rev. Should I use the stock spacers? I see the new reeds are a little shorter than stock...so? I was getting 50/50 yes and no from dealers so off to the experts!!

I got an 05 and i'm not running stock spacers I installed a set on an 04 yesterday and I did not put in the stock spacers in your kit there should be new screws and if you look you will see they are too short if you wanted to keep the spacers

They dont address that do they. If I use the old screws and spacer they work. If I use new ones and no spacer they work. Both ways seem to fit OK. Is there any performance to be gained or lost or just run it and give'r

This is why you run stock spacers! I mentioned this already.

tNotice that without the spacer the Boyesen reed assembly reaches further into the intake port than the stock setup... by very near the same depth as the thickness of the stock spacer.

With that in mind... here's the Boyesen setup installed in a cylinder without the spacer and looking up through the bottom of the intake port..

Notice how much of the reed cage you can see.

Now, the camera angle makes it look slightly worse than it really is... the end of the reed cage doesn't really reach all the way into the transfer path... but this will effect flow some... especially on intake & at higher RPMs.

For the average trail rider this likely won't mean much... probably not really enough to notice... but if a couple tenths means the difference between winning & losing...

With or without???.... your call.

But I've installed a few Boyesens on 800s... WITH the spacers... all without any clearence issues... is it a PITA?... absolutely... & make sure you clean the carb outlet flanges REAL GOOD... you need to get the boots onto the carbs fully AND have that ring molded into the boot sitting fully into the groove on the carb outlets... both of them.
