Just a question whats so great about Polaris clutching? I know the old p-85 is legendary at the grass drags and hill climb circuit, but on my 2010 dragon the belt wore a hole right threw the clutch!!! 20+ years of sledding and that was a first. I personally think the TRA is the best clutch for your average back country rider, heres why; the TRA's clickers gives a fairly wide range of adjustment that comes in handy LOTS. We start the day at 1500ft and by 10am we're at 7000+ feet. Snow conditions changing from day to day ext. My Dad used to bring Clutch weights for the POPO back in the day,,, what a PITA. Ride what you want, but the TRA is a better mountain clutch IMO and 16inch wide track is definatly better(especially with the flex edge),, and there is no disputing that so just give up...lol

Bingo. I'd love to hear why the Polaris clutching is so much better lol. You pretty much nailed it. My friend was pizzed off all day on his rmk when he was 200+ rpm under target all day an watched me spin 3 screws and cary on my way. Not to mention the etec clutching is so linear and responsive on the low end. So smooth when moving slow its unbelievable. Perfect for tight slow tree maneuvers.

absolutely everything about the doo is 100% perfect. fit and finish is always top of the board, clutching , smoothness, e-tec power, 16 wide is an absolute must. only the xm is a pure mountain machine and all because Maxwell says so. and maybe his mom. so there!

Maybe Doo has improved the clutches on the newer machines, but when buddy bought the new XP the primary was basically worn out after 800 miles in the first season. Needed a full rebuild as all the bushings and rollers were done, the adjustment with the clickers was a nice feature though. With the right tools I can change out my Poo weights in not much more time than it takes to adjust the clickers on a Doo. But I don't need to mess with them after they are set as they work over a fairly wide range. The design of the Poo clutch squeezes the belt harder at the outer edge of the sheaves ( high RPM ) the Doo clutch squeezes the belt harder at the centre of the sheaves and less at the outer edge, so more slip at high RPM, ride what you like.

I know someone who wore out his doo clutches in a full season.. He never did any maintenance. I have never ruined a TRA clutch. You keep them clean, they last many years.
