Under Deck Slip Tank Help

Having a skid tank welded up.

Want to fill from under the deck.

Any tricks to saving space with the cap?

Do not do that you will not be able to displace air when filling and top part of tank will be useless. Best way I’ve found is extend filler above deck and attach with a good hose setup so deck can be removed. Hydraulic connectors work ok.

Check to see how far your ramps go into the deck i found on mine i had a couple inches upfront and put the filler cap there and doesnt affect anything and then made a trapped door in the deck and can fill from uptop woth sleds on the deck aswell

One of the decks I used, had a rubber filler hose. Some punks reached in and cut it then syphoned out the gas. It you use a rubber line be sure it is in a place where prying hands can't reach it.

Check to see how far your ramps go into the deck i found on mine i had a couple inches upfront and put the filler cap there and doesnt affect anything and then made a trapped door in the deck and can fill from uptop woth sleds on the deck aswell

I have built a few so here’s my 2 bits, build your tank just bellow the top of your box with cap on, this allows you to run a tonneau cover down the road, remove cap and install pipe to desired hieght that meets your sled deck, you can poke the cap out the sled deck or just bellow and put a flap or door over it, extending the filler cap out the top allows for full use of tank. My tank hold 295 litres and sits bellow my cover, works awesome. I also use my second row of box bolts to mount it so no extra holes.

If I don't put my fill neck up through the the deck and just have to 45 degree off the back of the tank if I am driving up a steep slope is diesel gonna come spewing out the cap?

depending what you use for a cap if you put a breather on the top of the tank and a solid cap with no breather that would work, you just won’t have as much usable space in the tank

Why the hesitation to come up through the deck with a trap door? Just out of curiosity. I'm looking at building a tank as well, and I don't want to come up through the deck because I run a Truckboss. I actually want to have two tanks, one on each side of the bed so that my bed slide still works. Been watching this thread for a decent solution for a fill port without coming up through the deck.

Can always pull the ramp to give you enough space to fill.

I'm looking at the possibility of a flexible fill hose that I can pull out and hook on to the back of the deck so that its higher than the top of the tank. Throw a one way check valve in at the tank to hose connection, and a breather, and it should be good. I want to keep all the volume I can, as it will be limited as it is due to location. I figure 100l each side give or take.

I don't plan on having a pump either. It will be gravity feed to my tank, and possibly gravity feed on one side to fill toys.

I would suggest you go with a vented cap still but there is a difference in tidy tank caps. If it is designated as a transport cap they have a stiffer spring in them to reduce spillage. VS a bulk storage cap that has a weak spring or none.

Skegpro what kind of deck you running? I to want to add a tidy tank under my deck as well. I have a X deck and the front leg is solid brace from side to side that takes up a few inches up front and with my ramps in i only see a possible 2-3" of space where i could get a hose lined up to cut a trap door. I assume you just have to slide the ramps back a few inches to get enough room to access the filler cap? Anyone have pics of the tank under the deck, maybe view from the top?
