Under Deck Slip Tank Help

Skegpro what kind of deck you running? I to want to add a tidy tank under my deck as well. I have a X deck and the front leg is solid brace from side to side that takes up a few inches up front and with my ramps in i only see a possible 2-3" of space where i could get a hose lined up to cut a trap door. I assume you just have to slide the ramps back a few inches to get enough room to access the filler cap? Anyone have pics of the tank under the deck, maybe view from the top?

I was looking at it this morning and you can pull the deck back about 4-6" and still close the tailgate. So there definitely is room to put the cap up and through the deck. (F350)

I am going to go the other route and put the fill neck at the tailgate end.

(Gonna get a provisional nozzle at the front just in case and just plug it off for now.)

See how it pans out.

How big are you thinking of going?

($1150 for alluminum.)
Should be about 400 liters ish.

I was thinking of half that size, closer to 200l. i only been searching kijiji for used tanks, nothing fancy. thanks for the input.

Probably solid wall baffles with the corners cut out would be best?

This tank will have 2 cross the truck and one the length of the truck.
Solid baffles with clipped corners.

I’ve been running this style of tank for a dozen years. I’ve had the filler under the one side extension on the last tank and this tank it comes through the deck just inside of the left ski when one sled is on the deck. I have a 6’6” box with two 6’ ramps so there is plenty of room. It’s an old STF deck.

The last tank was 160 litres this one is 240. Only thing I would do differently is put baffles on either side of the filler to keep it square. Aluminum pulls when it’s welded so my filler neck is slightly cocked but not terribly. It is also easy for your welder to make something so you can lock your cap. Or do the trap door thing with a lock on it too. I’ve never had a problem with ice coming through the deck. Biggest problem I see with a remote fill is 1. it may fill slower and burp a lot as you fill and 2. you won’t know it’s full till it’s almost two late. Both will make a mess.

I welded a 90 into the filler neck on the truck, and ran the plumbing through a bulkhead fitting in the floor to a pump and filter. I also have an electric shut off valve and everything is on a timer in case I forget about it-which I have in the past and made a mess!! You can have it gravity feed but once the truck tank is filled if the remaining fuel in the slip tank warms up it will build enough pressure to push past the relief in your cap and again make a mess. Done this as well if you don’t shut the tank in.

I run a 2011 gmc short box extended cab. I have a 300 litre tank at front of box with fill cap on top but low enough tonnue cover still fits. Free flows through hose to filler hose on main tank. I have a 8in x 8in lid on deck that open and fill tank. Can fill tank right to top of filler cap. Can go from edmonton to revy and back pulling 4 place trailer.

Ya sure makes it nice, I through in a solenoid instead of free flow, free flow kicks an engine light on the 6.7 fords. I teed a free flow line just in case the sole of piles up. Never stuck.

thows a light on buddies 2010, my 2013 and my 2016 usually when slip tank is full.

Good idea on the solenoid for sure. I have had fuel leak slightly out the sending unit gasket before on the 16’s and down superduty. That gasket is not designed to take pressure. I have not had the code but heard of it and it makes sense.

Rds have a little ball and once it fills in the filler neck it pushes the ball up
shutting off the gravity feed, been running this kit on my 12 6.7 cummins and now my 2017 f350 with no issues

Same with my LML Dmax. My classic body style dmax just made the gauge go to empty and the miles to empty show dashes till the fuel level in the tank started to drop again.
