Geeze, they must really hate sledders to risk killing 19 endangered animals just to keep sledders out of that area.

21 actually. They killed a pregnant cow on the way down from Deese Lake before they ever got to release them.

Two things to say on this......

1. Don't Mess with natural selection and progression.

2. Mother Nature will always win no matter how hard us humans try and intervene and "fix" her. Always.

Somethings are just meant to evolve on their own.

Bad arguement. Humans caused the problem in the first place......though snowmobiles had nothing to do with it. We logged too close to their habitat, allowing other ungulates to get too close, and the predators followed them. Caribou ended up getting eaten......IN THE SUMMER!

They should transplant one to my deep freeze seeing as they are just killing them anyway, I could really go for some tasty caribou

Can someone please explain to me what purpose these animals serve anyways?
Other species have gone exinct and...
The world still turns
We still have seasons.
Food still grows.
My toilet still flushes.
And Justin beiber is still famous (unfortunately).

So what are we to gain by saving these things?

Sure....but other than Justin Beber and your toilet you could say the same thing about humans. The world would still turn without us too. Probably be better off in reality. :dontknow:

The RCRW team brought in senior caribou biologist Rick Farnell from the Yukon to help guide the team. Professional Forester Kevin Bollefer helps a pregnant caribou as they toboggan her into the protective maternity pen, where she will stay until early July when her calf will be stronger. The first weeks of life are precarious for young caribou. Up to 90% of caribou calves in the Revelstoke region are killed by predators within the first weeks of their lives. The maternity penning project aims to reverse that decline. Photo by Rob Buchanan.

Even the local ski gets involved, by providing free lift tickets to volunteers to pick arboreal lichen, the natural food that will sustain the pregnant caribou during their stay in the maternity pen. Volunteers Rachel Newby from Australia and Fernand Sylvain from Peace River, AB, harvest lichen from the trees on the side of the ski runs on Revelstoke Mountain Resort with senior caribou biologist John Flaa. I suppose our tax dollars are paying for all that?
There's way more people involved than caribou!!!

Actually most of the money came from Shell Canada Fueling change program they did last year. Not saying that I agree just clearing it up. There are may other groups that helped as well, not saying Gov didn't pay for some but a lot was donated. Funny they used a "evil " sled to transport them. Anyway, lets wait and see, this has worked for Caribou in the Yukon and wood Buffalo as well were helped this way.

Wouldn't be surprised if one if not both of those cows aborted after the stress they were just put through being moved to the maternity pen and from the anesthesia used.

We'll never know cw, as I'm sure they won't release any more failure in their "experiments"....

We "might". I know the Revy club is pretty involved this time. When they transplanted to the South Purcells they wouldn't even talk to us down here.
