Toyhauler which one to buy?

Me and the wife are looking for a toyhauler my parents have a lakefront cabin but with the growing family and us expecting our first we are looking into gettin a toyhauler over a regualr camper just for the fact or the back deck area is a nice option for our dogs plus we so have quads we haul to family wnd friends when we go see them so a nice bonus im looking at the raptord and cyclones wonderinf what people thoughts are on the two brands or what other recomend or nice to have feautures thanks everhyone

Had a cyclone, decent quality, towed nice . They have pretty cool floor plans.

We have a grand design momentum m348 for the last 5 years and has been great, also desert fox is better quality I would say.

X2 on Grand Design. Have a Solitude with the bunk house in the back. Can’t say enough good things, very well built trailer and very warm which extends your seasons.

Our daughter loves it. She was 14-18 months last summer. She has her own ‘room’ and future bathroom. This summer she can have friends stay with her etc. Mom and dad have their own entrance so not worried about coming in later.

Not a toy hauler but likely the same footprint your looking at. Ours is parked at our lake lot as well… Tows like a dream for a 40ft trailer. Better then our prior 29 footer. Only time you knew it was there was stopping or starting haha

My understanding is that the core ownership group who owned Red Wood sold to Thor and didn’t like how things were going afterwords. They then started Grand Design and eventually sold out to Winnebego.

I’m not going to go and buy a $100k wamna be hippie trailer anytime soon but you can’t debate the long term quality of that brand.

I could be wrong on all this so fact check away!

I did a reasonable amount of brand research, not looking @ floorplan etc. My purpose was which brand had the lesser amount of problems & which manufacturer supported the dealer & owner properly.

Moving up to the full time living definition stepped up build quality & eliminated some brands. It's not our intention to live full time in a RV, but you never know. Better build quality, insulation, appliances comes with full time living.

Price goes up & can go over the top, we set the budget @ 100k. I'm not aware of any brand that price protects, that I learned this fall while shopping. Most RV's went up 20-25% this past year, so we had to bump up our budget.

Grand Design Solitude by Winnebago is what we ordered back in October. I also found the Alta dealers higher price than the BC dealers.

Grand Design builds a good trailer and have found different, and in many cases better ways to build them. Although I do have family members that live full time in one, and the roof was replaced after the first year because it was leaking, holding moisture, and then growing mold. As far as I know it's been good since, and that's the only issue I've ever heard about them.

My sister and brother in law had a raptor 5 th wheel toy haul and had nothing but trouble with in . It was a 2014 , they bought it brand new but sold it after 2 years due to so much going wrong.

If you have TikTok look up “itsronmoney”. He’s a rv roof repair specialist in the southern US. After watching his videos you’ll definitely know which brands & models to stay away from. Winnebago & Grand Design he ranks as some of the better built units & Keystone the worst.

End of the day they are all sh!te. I have a Raptor so Keystone product and behind all the fancy things they are all poorly built. Best thing is to find the floor plan you like, find a good dealer and use it as much as possible while you're under full warranty. Before you sign anything or finalize the purchase get under the unit, up on the roof, look behind the fancy things and have them fix any issues. Both be and my buddy had our AC units not properly sealed on the roof, buddy had issues on the under belly.

Ya i looked at a raptor snd was not happy, we ended up buying a dutchman voltage 3895 toy hauler its a 2013 but has been well looked after it has the rear deck option and extra loft inside aswell for extra space it will be just gettin parked at the seasonal site and wont be gettin moved much its just to gain extra space for us
