Start on Halloween or Remembrance Day and if we were lucky go til mid April only

Not a very long season compared to here.

Very cold and dark through Dec and Jan.

Rode lots at -40 and it wasn't a picnic. Just what we had to doo

Rode AC in those days

as IMHO he was the better dealer.

had two machines for years.

The wife had hers and would take the kids to the sitter on the sled.

By the time the 3rd boy came along, it was my turn to help out.

about 3 miles to the sitter's

2500 miles a year/sled pretty much

 

[ferniesnow]

used them for two years and then traded. Always had a new one for reliability.

 

[ferniesnow]

There was one winter that we couldn't get the vehicles going. Couldn't even push the clutch down on the Jimmy for about a week.

If one didn't have a garage, it was one hell of a winter.

Kept the sleds in a shed with a light bulb or an interior car warmer. It was funny having to plug the sled in at work.....

I don't even have any pictures of those real cold days.

this is a real true story BTW.

Going to BBQ a steak, the mushrooms are done, veggies sliced, just waiting for the Q to heat up.

winter trips were mostly camping trips

out to a cabin (trapper's cabin) for the weekend. Lots of drinking and story telling.
