Tire choice for 3/4 ton truck

I will be replacing the tires on my 3/4 duramax soon I have the toyo m55 now but is there any other tire to look at ???
I don't drive it everyday in the summer I haul my rhino and holiday trailer in the winter I haul my sled . I don't mind the toyo but just wondering about other tires

I have the Hankook Dynapro ATM in 265/75/R16 on my 02 Duramax, they work well in the snow as well as a little bit of mud. They are not the greatest on ice, but most AT type tires aren't, but they still have enough ice traction to feel confident driving. I carry tire chains in the winter regardless for trips to the mountains when the gravel road we travel turns to ice.

Very happy with Duratracs on my dmax I had M55's before on my Cummins and they were scary on ice due to hard compound, Duratracs are softer and very good on ice. Wear fairly well if not good, I have 40k on mine now and around 1/2 tread at least although I don't hot rod the truck much and rotate them every 10k.

I have the Hankook Dynapro ATM in 265/75/R16 on my 02 Duramax, they work well in the snow as well as a little bit of mud. They are not the greatest on ice, but most AT type tires aren't, but they still have enough ice traction to feel confident driving. I run the same tires. Ready for a new set in the next month. Got roughly 60K out of this set and I drive a fair amount of gravel.

I got 25k on mine now, looks like the fronts will go another 50k, the rears on the other hand...

Gotta rotate tires to keep them wearing evenly and maximize their life. Another thing I do to save tires is 4 Hi as soon as I hit loose gravel roads and pretty well always with the trailer on gravel. 2wd will get you there but the rear tires take a beating always chewing for traction. IMO increased wear on the front diff is negligible and for the T-case I just run good fluids and change it fairly regularly.

I think the simplest solution would be to be easier on the go pedal, as spinning on pavement isn't very forgiving, but I still should have rotated them.

I've got an 07 lmm duramax. I put good year silent armors on and I've been happy with. Nice and grippy in the snow and ice. I went with a 285 70 17. Bit oversized from stock, I do get get minimal tire rub but only when steering is cranked. Although they only came in an 8ply. Had the same size in Toyo AT's aswell before. I preferred the look of the Toyo but they did wear quick I found.

I had Silent Armours on my 07lbz dmax as well and thought they were great . They are a winter rated tire that I ran year round and had decent off road traction (and lasted 85,000 kms). Unfortunately they are not offered any more. They got replaced by Goodyear Wrangler "Adventure". I didn't like the look of the adventure for offroad traction so I went with Duratracs. Duratracs have decent offroad traction and are winter rated. I've tried the off road part and like 'em. Haven't tried them in the winter yet. Only down side is there is a bit of road hum with them.

Ran the Nitto terra grapplers on my 08 Duramax, loved them as well. Found them to be very good in the snow and decent on ice. I just couldn't get much life out of mine. I am guilty of not rotating as often as I should, however I don't believe I would get an extra 25,000km from rotating more often as I was told by Kal tire. I have the Michelin LTX m/s2 on right now and are due to being replaced at 77,000km's. I consider that decent mileage for a tire on a diesel. The m/s2 are not as good in the snow as the terra grappler and they throw rocks like crazy when new. I may try the terra grappler again or go with the dura tracs this time.

run duratracs on my stock rims for winter and dynapro ATM's on my 20's during the summer, love both duratracs are deffinitlly the winter tires of choice, pretty soft compound for lots of summer miles though.

I have a 3/4 ton with the 454 (not as heavy as the diesel) and I hate BFG AT (have the snow flake) and general At2 (snow flake also) both are 8 ply.....I can only get 40-50 000 km on a set......yes I drive hard but I don't spin tires.....lol I need to find something better for wear.....with great ice-snow traction since my driveway is straight down a mountain with the highway at the bottom..... and if that don't stop me, then the lake and a 40 foot bank will make a mess out of the truck! lol

Nitto Terra Grappler? Nice quite tire with good handling .
I had terrible wear out of them. Only 28000 Kms and not much left.
20% gravel 80% pavement.
Buddy talked me into them and he had the same results.
Have Duratracs on know with 59000 Kms and still not to bad.
This time 50% gravel and 50% pavement so the Duratracs get my vote for year around tire.
2012 3500 duramax not hauling anything heavy or pulling anything .

+1 on the Hankook Dynapro ATM's. I'm on my fourth set, get minimum 100k out of them by rotating every 20k (cross the rears going forward, fronts straight back). Good all around tire.

Duratrac's are noisy. If that kind of thing bothers you stay away.

I changed my mind and ordered the Hankook iPike RW11 instead of the Dynapro RF10. The iPike RW11 is a winter tire that has way more siping, but is the same compound as the RF10 All season. I've been told by someone I trust on these that they're getting identical wear on these as the RF10. I'll let everyone know what I think once I get a month or two on these.

I ran toyo at2 extreme's this past summer and they are decent and look decent for an at as well. I will be running studded duratracs for the winter as ive heard nothing but good reviews on the duratrac's
