maxxis zilla's at about 18 psi, all you'll need

the majority of problems people have with zilla's is due to under-inflation

18 psi ? I have never heard of running that high of pressure on an atv or utv.

I guess you should never run it off the bead at that psi.

For any newcomers following along, please do not run out and blow your tires up to 18PSI.......Beads will be the least of your worries LOL
Every stick, root and sharp rock will want to penetrate your tire like in a big way.

If you are concerned about blowing beads choose your tire size, rim, accordingly .....if that fails BEADLOCK rims.

plus the tires are so much heavier with 20lbs of air than with the standard 7-10. just try lugging those tires holding 20lbs of air around all day.

Gotta agree with the guys that 18psi is pretty frigg'n high. Besides not being recommended, 18PSI must give you a heck of a rough ride. I run mine a little high myself at about 8psi to reduce the amount of grass and twigs that get stuck in the bead.

Factory spec on the stock Bighorns 2.00 (4 ply) that comes with the commander XT Front min max 10-12, Rear min max 12-22, thats a lot of psi for those rear tires, guessing it must be due to weight (1300), or perhaps due to the 4 ply on that particular tire, not sure but i was surprised .

I would think the higher PSI would be for those carrying large loads or that have possibly "4 seated" their Commander XT

well, I have two sets of big's ...25 " ...one set studded for winter and one set for summer.... both sets are siped or grooved... over 15000 k in total on both sets
and I have gone where ever anybody else has... even thru mud.... and when its too deep then I specktate and have a few laughs watching the ones in the deep get stuck...hehe

the problem is most stock quads don't rev up fast enough....if you have the power to spin them at 8 grand right off the line then they will travel, believe me....
all aftermarket bigs are a 6 ply tire..... go to heavy of a tire and the quad becomes a slow pig unless you clutch the power back that you lost with that weight...

I run 8.5 lbs of air in my 25" bigs....

Maxxis zilla's are rated for 36Psi, 18 is beans man, something to do with being radial or non radial or whatever, tire talk thats what i call it blah blah blah

and the ride is fine, some people prefer speed and cornering over a smooth ride, the only downside i can think of is ice, and climbing over big slippery logs, also wet smooth rock... afew things i guess

A word of caution on swamp lites. I had them on my Brute. Dangerous tire...IMO The knobs are so deep on pavement or hard pack they roll over as the compound is very soft, hence at speed they to some real scary wandering. Without warning !!! In the mud they do not clean out at all and plug up rather easy. There are many better options out there.....My 2 $
