We get a lot of calls to backyard fire pits.

No screens, burning leaves and green branches.

Fire too big.

Once again things get banned because of the lowest common denominator stupidity.

I have a chlorine mix spray bottle, shop towels and disposable gloves in each of my vehicles. I put on the gloves, spray them down and take a wet chlorine towel with me whenever I'm in a public space...I make sure to wipe everything down when getting back in my vehicle. I also wipe down/sanitize the groceries when I get home...I cant believe how many people I see that are not taking any precautions when out in public. These are also most likely the people who would criticize me for going sledding.

I live across the street from our Fire-hall and I cant recall the last time I saw a truck leave the station on a call for anything...and Ive been home a lot during the last 4 weeks. Maybe they are on all of their call-outs while I'm out sledding.

Just goes to show that not all SAR teams are on the same page...I also happen to know that the head of one of the largest SAR teams in BC was out on a major personal ski tour adventure two weeks ago. Not everyone involved with SAR believes everyone should stay locked up at home...some believe its OK to go out if you practice good decision making.
The problem is people with extreme attitudes like you, nobody is saying stay locked up at home except YOU. Don't drive 10 hrs to go for a sled ride, don't try and climb a new chute or explore an area you've never been to but going for a ride to your favorite area for a beverage shouldn't be an issue.
Use a little common sense and things will be ok.
Are the governments going overboard? Yes but it's only because people with the extreme **** it attitude could bring down the entire system.
I will continue to take it easy and see how things play out in the next couple weeks.

K...I'm a little confused.

Don't know how you came up with the comment "with extreme attitudes like you" because the only thing Ive been saying all along is very similar to your comment "don't try and climb a new chute or explore an area you've never been to but going for a ride to your favorite area for a beverage shouldn't be an issue. Use a little common sense and things will be ok"

Actually, a lot of people on this forum are saying to stay locked up at home.

Gotta go work on my sled...be back to chat later.

Now there is a campfire ban in Fernie.

https://www.thefreepress.ca/news/city-of-fernie-implements-fire-ban/

Cause we all know that having a campfire in a Fire Department approved 'Annually Permitted' fire pit is a bad thing. Guess we are going to have to break out the propane fire pit early this year.

Anyone on this site in favor of banning back yard camp fire pits?

I love the hours we have spent around our backyard pit as well at many friends homes. I am all for them, just have to be reasonable about their use. Maybe we have the advantage of being on acreage so we dont get close to neighbors, I dunno, but I am all for them.

Imo, You are coming across that you are encouraging everyone to travel to areas with a travel advisory.
If Someone has access to riding in their town fill your boots, go riding.
If someone want to go and travel 10 hrs to go riding than give’er!
Stay off social media and STFU about it, but dont whine when handed a fine.

Social media and technology is the reason this situation is at the point it is.

Some Towns that do not have a virus outbreak, do not want one to start.

Just wearing a mask when would do way more to stop the spread of this virus. Maybe 10% of the people in the stores are wearing them, I have heard this so often, i am self isolating.... only to learn they go out shopping at least once a week... stupidity at its finest.

Work in a store and we still have the regular customers that still show up every day of the week. For masks still very hard to to get.

So , this was a pretty active topic, lots of guys voiced their opinions. Anyone change their viewpoints or pandemic handling plans ? Since April there have certainly been a ton of oopsies, whoops, sorry we were wrong , now we know better , this time we got it right , plus a lot of outright manipulative lies told by a few different groups.

As far as outdoor activities...I kept sledding into the first week of May, then it was mountain biking...now its mountain biking, Illegal boat camping on the Kook and water skiing and Air Chairing.

From a Covid standpoint I have relaxed on the gloves and chlorine and so far I'm not a fan of the masks in public places...but this is in Fernie. We keep our gatherings to a fairly small group and do lots of hand-washing.

I'm a little worn out with the constant talk about Covid.
