Hiding out in your room while the entire economy is being destroyed and taking your direction from a group of people who have been dramatically wrong in every aspect while watching the moral of your country isn’t really something that’s working out that well either. I am a small business person, one one of the things I have to do is determine who's advice to trust or not trust. When it comes to money I talk to my accountant, when it comes to my health I talk to my doctor, when it comes to equipment repairs I talk to my mechanic. So now we have a world wide pandemic. Who's advice do I trust? A few sledders pissed because they feel they should have the right to do as they please, or doctors and scientists who have experience in the field?

We all have to make choices. The difference is if you make the choice for your personal desires or for the good of your family and neighbors.

Frankly I find being asked to social distance for a couple of month to be a small price to pay to see where the long game goes.

Im not hiding, Im staying home on my days off to stay working, staying healthy and employed for my family is my priority, im very fortunate to have both at the moment.

Im not insubordinate person, how long would I employed if I broke my companies policies on covid-19, or any other policy?
Regardless if the people making the decisions are right or wrong, I cannot control what’s happening. Im not worrying about a situation that I have no control over.

So if people are rebelling, whats everyones plan to fight the government and get the economy moving than? Going to head to the states and rally to get the economy going?
There are lots of business owners on this site, whats the plan??? Is talking about conspiracy theories going to jump start the economy?

Cause that’s a reasonable explanation of the different groups of experienced , educated people who are questioning the validity of the measures being taken. You’re right , it’s your business , your decision, so act accordingLy. Personally , we are doing what we can to minimize the risk to,others and ourselves, , but if you are someone who has no doubts as to what you’re being told to do , or comfortable that all the information you’re receiving is factual and in the best interests of everyone , long term and short term , that’s great, carry on, I respect your decision. And if you believe every time someone questions information and directions from the government or politicians , that they are conspiracy theorists, I wish you luck but suggest you flick the wool out of your eyes.

That is the last line of my post, the summary of my thoughts. I have taken time to read and educate myself on many sides of the story. I take the advice I feel best about. The one thing that struck me, and I cant remember who said it, but the point that "if" social distancing and self quarantine works, it will always be criticized because we wont see the worst case scenario. If we dont see the worst case scenario then there is a victory for those who call for the current measures. But that is the kicker, if social distancing works, we only know because things dont get bad. But who makes the determination of what is bad?

I am more than content to give this another month, see how things progress. I much prefer to be part of the solution and part of the problem. By the middle of May its kind of my **** or get off the pot time. My reasoning is simple. I dont want to see that worst case scenario.

As Canadians we have been possibly one of the least hit nations. There appears to be a level of control compared to the rest of the modern world. Its pretty easy to sit back and say its all bunk when were not affected (health) in our day to day lives. My daughter lives in London England. They are scared ****less. They are seeing stuff we can only dream of, in our nightmares.

Cause we all know that having a campfire in a Fire Department approved 'Annually Permitted' fire pit is a bad thing. Guess we are going to have to break out the propane fire pit early this year.

Anyone on this site in favor of banning back yard camp fire pits?

There are drawbacks to how Alberta is dealing with COVID 19 for sure but less dead is less dead.
All data from what has happened in all countries is used for the outcome modeling.
Best case is 400-1200 deaths on present path.
Let COVID run free and it is 20,000-40,000 deaths for Alberta
This is from doctors and data analyst not the lying pricks in govt.
Once Pandora's Box is open there is NO GOING BACK.
This is based on what has happened to other counties - how we are expected to be special without special effort requires some off center reasoning.

I will never be an active member of the later choice and it amazes me how many people are openly in favor of helping to kill up to 39,000 more people for their own selfish beliefs.
Only allowed to stay behind locked doors - absolutely not - stupid comment by those that don't care and only want to justify their point of view.
But some of the Western World perks need to be put on hold until issues and cases dropped to open up again.
People have unfortunately proven they can not do this on their own.
Yes this screws the economy and personnel debt big time but it will come back.......but dead is dead........there is no recovery from that.

We get a lot of calls to backyard fire pits.

No screens, burning leaves and green branches.

Just goes to show that not all SAR teams are on the same page...I also happen to know that the head of one of the largest SAR teams in BC was out on a major personal ski tour adventure two weeks ago. Not everyone involved with SAR believes everyone should stay locked up at home...some believe its OK to go out if you practice good decision making.
