Thinking of buying a Nytro, would like honest opinion of the sled.

Thats another topics all together is how you ride them compared to a 2smoker. If you have ridden a 2smoker most of your sledding days it's going to take some serious getting used to riding the 4stroke. You can NEVER be off the throttle with a 4stroke unless your in a climb recovering from a wheelie. I took my buddies through the trees in the flat and im so used to riding my DOO i was either on or off the throttle, that thing jerked me all over the dam place !!!! i couldn't even imagen trying to cut through trees on a hill and it's tight, the only time i will jump oh his sled is if we are high marking and they wanna watch me catwalk up the entire hill LOL, i really need to get a helmet cam vid of this thing... One time we had to do this little sid hill on hard pack snow at very low speeds, he was hangin over as much as he possibly could and it slowly tiped over throw him off and then rolled hahahaha. OHH OHH i totally forgot ... after you come back down the dam things are a toboggan !!! you know that sweet engine breaking you get with a 2smoker ... you better not expect that to happen on a 4stroke or your in trouble.... after i come down a climb on the Nytro im totally hanging on for dear life and some times outta control haha !

I don't think ill buy one... id rather turbo a DOO and ride that, but if someone that owns one wants me to take a poke at a hill with it, ill be happy to :p

You are indeed correct about it being a totally different ride, took me quite a few rides to get the feel for it, but I'll tell you right now, contrary to your statement, once you get used to it you won't find a better sled in the tight trees, as you need very little throttle to keep it moving, and the only time it's wide open is on those big climbs. I think the problem you had being on- off the throttle and it jerking you around is because you were trying to ride it like your doo. A few rides here and there during a season won't give you a just feel for the 4 strokes it has to be the only ride to understand and I'm sure that goes for any make 4 stroker.

Don't think I bashed fat 4 strokes at all, will admit was abit skeptical at first, but after watching Ian try to destroy his Yamahas and failing, their durability, reliability and quality made me try one,( not to mention that horrible POS Polaris RMK 800 I had), a move I never will regret, and I think the ones that said they would quit riding with anyone who bought one are still sticking around...... why I haven't figured out yet!! LOL!! Although, if Dan buys one we all can tear him a new one as I think he's been the biggest basher of all, he'll be eating alotta crow for that!!!!

LMAO... i totally agree with the Yamaha quality... thanks to Ian... not too many sleds can withstand the fury of Ian but his Yamahas did! In all honesty, ANY SLED would have been a move in the right direction after your 800 RMK... lol

Time will tell if Danny eats crow! All I know is that he needs some answers quickly if he wants to keep up to rest of the crew! It gets old getting beat up a hill by a bunch of fat dudes on old iron! ;)

I am starting to see a pattern here... Farmer tricked you into thinking that his sled was stock in fact it was a fire breathing 827 and he KNEW that I would be kickin his butt up the hill with my new ride so he sabotaged it on the build!

That Farmer is one competitive SOB!!! We should even the playing field and dump sugar in his tank! lol

Better yet, let's just throw some really low gears in it, take away his track speed and see how he does, funnier to watch him curse it out and try to figure out what's up.

I don't know about the lower gears, I'm lower then he is and I still kicked his ass last trip. Tighten his limiter strap he'll probably never notice then he'll go put a 1160 into it.

Rode the 09 Nytro 153" and found the stock track sucked in fresh where it is better at half throttle than full out as it was too soft. The front end did sink in fresh with the smaller ski's and it darted around a lot on trail. Much of that has changed with the 2010 which is what I ride now.

I traded up on a 10 rather than upgrade the 09 and the 10 is a much better sled and handles great! The power is the same but the changes they made with the chassis, front end geometry and track were awesome.

  • Enhanced attack angle on the track
  • Lighter skid with Fox Floats
  • Wider stance with new wider ski's
  • Revised FXGen2 front suspension with Fox Float II's
  • Elimination of front sway bar
  • New Camoplast Maverick 2.25" track
  • Improved 11° tunnel design for snow clearing in powder

As for power, it holds it's own as many people do not realize the kind of torque this 1049 Genesis motor lays down. Torque is what moves you, and the linear power of a 4 stroke is more impressive than any 2 stroke I have ridden as of late (no offence to you XP and M8 riders). Being a heavier sled will definitely limit the climbing ability, but the lightened 2010 is far more responsive in the powder than previous years and a 2010 would own an 08 or 09 Nytro outright in every category.

Besides, if all you want is bragging rights for the highmark, there's always gonna be someone lighter, faster, and others with deeper pockets to outrun you to the top. Ever see a 4 stroke climb with a smaller guy who can ride versus an M8 with a heavier guy that points it up the hill? It quickly balances the power to weight with a much different outcome than some of the analogies I've read in this thread (no offence to the fat guys who hill climb and for the record, i'm no lightweight...haha). These Nytro's move great with a stage 1 turbo and still run pump gas with a motor design that'll likely outlast a 2 stroke by a multiplier of 3X.

The 2010 is an all around wicked machine even in stock form. Mine will finish out the next few weeks in stock form, then it's getting a little boost kit putting it in the 200hp range @ 8 lbs just because I'm a speed freak who loves the flats. Betcha this sled that everyone complains about being so heavy will move it's ass up the hill pretty good once that's done as well.

I like a lot of the sleds out there right now, but I am sure am glad I scored a newer Nytro to get back into sledding with. Great ride, decent power to weight and excellent fuel use with a clean burn. There's a lot to be said with that, and yes, the 2010 does run with the 800's in most cases, especially on the flats where the Nytro quickly defies the HP critics.

As for stucks, yes they are pigs to lift out, but I haven't had the 10 stuck anywhere near as much as the 09 as it handles deep powder a lot better with the longer track and numerous changes. That's where the red neck roll comes in I guess? Have yet to try but will when it's needed. There's an honest opinion.

Nuf said!
