I have a timber front and rear in mine and love it. 162" track and stage two mc turbo. On the trail i usually run the floats around 140 lbs if you do a steep hill you need to pump the rear shock over 180 lbs to keep the front down. The sled does handle weird though which is what this post is about. So weird that i bought another one for ditchbangin. COuldnt go back and forth to my old sled for a 1000kms and then ride a boosted nitro for three days in the mountains. To hard to get wicked on it. Now that i ride one all the time i really have gotten to like it. The only down side is it pulls hard on the lake till around 100kms per the not so fast anymore. Might need to supercharge the lake sled now...

Thank you!

I rode a few nytro's last season in the deep pow (a couple stock and a couple turboed) and I gotta tell you, I was super impressed with the turbo, but in stock trim it was grossly underpowered. it won't run with 700's on the hills, in fact, I highmarked the nytro on my daughter's stock powder special 700 with a 136 under it. the nytro is front end heavy but it does turn really well, would make a good trail/light boondocking sled but unless you are going to shell out for a turbo, it wouldn't be on my mountain sled list. if you are going to buy the turbo and rear suspension, it will kick some a$$.

just my opinion.

cobbycat;297631 it won't run with 700's on the hills said:
I find this extremely hard to believe, as I ride a Vector, 10 hp less than a Nytro, bone stock, and it goes everywhere the 7 and 8's go. It won't win any highmark competitions against the xp, m's or dragons, but it certainly holds it own against the rmk, summits and m-cats with 151's, and in some conditions outclimbs them, so I don't think a stock 136 will hold a lick to it.

tried it myself, was shocked. 3ft pow day, highmark(lowmark) wasn't very high. think it was just a trackspeed thing.

Totally agree Turbo, camo track, tunnel, suspension, skis, ect..., and you'll love it, if runinning stock buy XP.

Nytro's are worthless in the mountains, stay on the trail if you buy one. My 2002 Skumit was outclimbing 2 of them in 2 foot fresh on a hill, we were highmarking at the top and they made it half way and had to turn out. Unless your going to drop 15g's into it and long track/turbo it, don't bother, waste of money, you be better off with ANYTHING else .... If you want a 4 stroke mountain machine atleast get an Apex, but even then i still wouldn't buy one and ride it stock. If you wanna have the most fun and be able to do everything get an 06-07 Summit if your not ready to pay 12g's for a new skumit. Trust me dood, stock nytro's are HORRIBLE !

BUT i have a buddy with a 260hp Nytro and thats just too much fun :D catwalks to the bumper on flat ground. WOOOOWEEE ! MO POWA !

Thinking about buying a Nytro, haven't had a chance to ride one yet wondering how they compare to what you used to ride and how you find them. No brand bashing please. Just want to find how it compares and if your happy with it. Also where your riding it. Mainly just want info on stock Nytros. All my riding is done in the mountains. Thank you

I bought 2 09 xtx's and love the ride, handling and power. That coming from a true blood cat guy. Oh ya, the fuel consumption is great.... Half of what i used to burn.:)

Sounds like one that just was horribly set up by either the owner or dealer, I wouldn't be basing any comparisons to other sleds off one ride on that Nytro. All the ones I've seen seem to work pretty damn good.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!!

I never thought that I would see this post from Danny! He gets his @ss handed to him by his buddies and then he is looking for a better sled... Do you think that a 4 stroke stocker will help you out run Farmer? ;)

The 2 brothers that bashed the fattened up 4 strokes and said that if any of us bought a fat 4 stroke with a 162" track are BOTH going to be the ones that ride them? how ironic!

LOL... just givin the McLeod boys a little ribbing! Can't wait to see the new sled for my next trip out!

I personally ride a REV but i rode the neighbors 50th anniver. Nytro a week ago, it's farily stock with a different track(151), clutched, K&N, staright pipe, and i believe he said a chip.......i was truly amazed, not the ride i thought it would be. It pulls hard around here, not sure about the hills but the thing was screaming across the field at like 9200rpm:eek:. The only thing i didn't like is when you let off the gas the front end nose dived pretty hard but other than that she was peppy. I'm still waiting to see if doo comes out with a mountian addition 1200 e-tec(4 smoke).;)

Thats another topics all together is how you ride them compared to a 2smoker. If you have ridden a 2smoker most of your sledding days it's going to take some serious getting used to riding the 4stroke. You can NEVER be off the throttle with a 4stroke unless your in a climb recovering from a wheelie. I took my buddies through the trees in the flat and im so used to riding my DOO i was either on or off the throttle, that thing jerked me all over the dam place !!!! i couldn't even imagen trying to cut through trees on a hill and it's tight, the only time i will jump oh his sled is if we are high marking and they wanna watch me catwalk up the entire hill LOL, i really need to get a helmet cam vid of this thing... One time we had to do this little sid hill on hard pack snow at very low speeds, he was hangin over as much as he possibly could and it slowly tiped over throw him off and then rolled hahahaha. OHH OHH i totally forgot ... after you come back down the dam things are a toboggan !!! you know that sweet engine breaking you get with a 2smoker ... you better not expect that to happen on a 4stroke or your in trouble.... after i come down a climb on the Nytro im totally hanging on for dear life and some times outta control haha !

I don't think ill buy one... id rather turbo a DOO and ride that, but if someone that owns one wants me to take a poke at a hill with it, ill be happy to :p

If you want to stop the diving on the front end you have to fatten up the ski's. I bought ski skins from Yami $55 per side and what a differance, saves you from buying new ski's.:d

i hate people who are pig headed about the nytro.. its heavier yes but unless ur a girl u dont need a group of buddies to get it unstuck and i to have rode all sleds and owned all except new poos which im sure are great.. but i will/would/am going to trade a bit of extra weight and less performance for turn key and ride... Stock nytro + skid and 153 powderclaw/155 poo/153 camo and u wont be dissapointed.. even comletly stock its fun... wont highmark 800 forsure but u will alllways make it back to the truck without doing anymore then turning the key!!

could have been, although I jumped on their turbo Nytro right after and that was all smiles!!! highmarked everything there that day!!

basically, I'm trying to say that if you are going to keep it stock, there are more capable sleds for the same $$$. If you are going to turbo it sometime down the road, the Nytro is a great candidate. and it wouldn't be too painful to ride for a season before the turbo. handles good, just not much power.

this is my second year with my 08 mtx and i love the crap outa it!!! :Happy6:sled runs great doesnt burn half the fuel a doo does its bullet- proof smashed it twice last year and after each crash was still rideabl to its full potential, try and pull that of with a tin foil xp it dont happen. i love the ride and how nimble it is and how easy it is to toss around in the powder. the only thing i am not to impressed with is the suspension but thats easy to remedy, and the handle bars are a bit to low but im also 6'5 240 so yeah. but overall i love the sled. it does take a bit to get used to goin from 2 stroke but its not near as bad as an 07 phazer(catapult with handle bars) lol i think it has ample power stock and they sound great with a pipe on em. i would recomend takin one out for a rip though it would really be worth your time :d

Don't think I bashed fat 4 strokes at all, will admit was abit skeptical at first, but after watching Ian try to destroy his Yamahas and failing, their durability, reliability and quality made me try one,( not to mention that horrible POS Polaris RMK 800 I had), a move I never will regret, and I think the ones that said they would quit riding with anyone who bought one are still sticking around...... why I haven't figured out yet!! LOL!! Although, if Dan buys one we all can tear him a new one as I think he's been the biggest basher of all, he'll be eating alotta crow for that!!!!
