Thinking of buying a Nytro, would like honest opinion of the sled.

Thinking about buying a Nytro, haven't had a chance to ride one yet wondering how they compare to what you used to ride and how you find them. No brand bashing please. Just want to find how it compares and if your happy with it. Also where your riding it. Mainly just want info on stock Nytros. All my riding is done in the mountains. Thank you

I ride a nytro, i like it im only 13, but its a fun sled. It's a bit heavy, but i like the power, but i really cant compare it to anything else because i haven't rode an xp or anything but wouldn't mind! Fun sled all around though.

I think there is something wrong with my comp screen, Mr. Skidoo asking about a Nytro, giving up on the new skud already ??? Oh man i can hear ure bro Dave already lol.... I hope everything works out for ya.

Well I use to ride an Apex and hated it then I switched to the m1000 loved it and then I wanted to get away from the 2 stroke. I just bought a Nytro and had the chance to ride it around here and it was very nice and a comfortable ride. So I bought one and took it to the mountains and found it very nice to ride there also. It obvisiously takes time to adjust to a new machine but I was very happy with my decision. My only thing is that the bars are to low and they need a new a mod to raise them up. There is one that u can get for around $100 that uses the stock bars and cables etc... It was nice to turn the key and ride. I hope that helps you. Oh yea my suspension and everything was stock when I first rode it around here.

I'm definatly putting adjustable risers on my nytro, because the bars are on so much of an angle, and they would be easier to turn, and i agree the bars are low, but other than that really easy to ride standing in the mountains.

Talk to Darren and might have a few with us on the trip that are for sale. They bolt right onto the stock bracket then your bars bolt into them.

I agree that it is a heavy sled, and it does depend where you ride, it's a great boondocking sled, i can throw it around in the powder, but if you mostly ride the mountains you would need to shed some weight, and or get a turbo

Nytro's are worthless in the mountains, stay on the trail if you buy one. My 2002 Skumit was outclimbing 2 of them in 2 foot fresh on a hill, we were highmarking at the top and they made it half way and had to turn out. Unless your going to drop 15g's into it and long track/turbo it, don't bother, waste of money, you be better off with ANYTHING else .... If you want a 4 stroke mountain machine atleast get an Apex, but even then i still wouldn't buy one and ride it stock. If you wanna have the most fun and be able to do everything get an 06-07 Summit if your not ready to pay 12g's for a new skumit. Trust me dood, stock nytro's are HORRIBLE !

BUT i have a buddy with a 260hp Nytro and thats just too much fun :D catwalks to the bumper on flat ground. WOOOOWEEE ! MO POWA !

Well, I bought 2 Nytros in 08.

Overall I am happy with them now. A stock Nytro is comparable to a 700 two stroke so if you think you'll be able to climb with the 800's and up you won't, but you should be able to ride with them all day unless you need a huge climb to get into something. It is a great boondocking sled and is rides a lot lighter than all of the other 4 strokes. Yes it weighs more than the two strokes but it handles great, I rode an XP and I thought the Nytro handled just as well.

Now the bad on the Nytro. The stock track sucks, it's so bad that some guys have ran the stock track backwards. I have changed out both of mine. The handlebars well everyone likes them different, if you're a tall guy I suggest rising them and tilting them forward. I have risers on both of mine. Personally I wish Yamaha would've given it a little more HP something in the 150 range would've been awesome.

Ran both sleds stock pretty much all of last year. No issues with anything mechanical. I just needed to upgrade a few things.

Anyways,

This is how my sleds look like now.

#1 MCX turbo running at 15 psi boost, timbersled mtn tamer rear suspension, 162 - 2.5 camo extreme track, timbesled barkbusters front end.

#2 Aftermarket exhaust (lightens it up and produces 3-7 HP, 5 HP average), 156 - 2.5 camo extreme track.

A lot of fun and hopefully I'll have them for awhile as they should be the reliable 4 stroke.

just wondering how you like the mtn tamer and timbersled suspensions? we are thinking about maybe 2 '09 nytro turbo's fully decked out with them.

Rknight111 is here along with summit ric, and sledbunnyracing, i told rknight and he said dont buy it unless your gonna turbo it, and sr and sbr laughed at the fact of buying a yamapoo

well mine is far from stock but u must put the gen 2 simmon skis on it stops it from diving in the snow i found the stock skis are to narrow for the heavier frontend but i put the 10 inch wide simmons skis on and WOW totaly diffrent sled and if u want a real fun nytro put a turbo on it then look out:d:d

:):)I rode a nitro a week ago and loved it. I told my sledding buddies that I would have one. In the powder it worked well. This was last years with a pipe on it. The sled held its own on the hills we had about a foot of fresh powder. The sled worked well. Heavy no, I ride a 05 RT1000
All you can do is try one

I have both 08 Nytro MTX and 09 XP. The Nytro is a nice sled to drive. Handles and Boondockin is a gas. I really like it. The track sucks doesn't even come close to hookin up like an XP in the powder never mind climbing. I agree with Mav 800XRS If your not going to turbo it buy an XP or something.

Thanks for the info guys, really don't want to buy something then spend a truckload of money on it to make it work the way the I would want it to. I've tried out the 09 cat, polaris and xp, haven't seen a stock Nytro run yet but had heard alot of good about it, Don't worry scott I'll keep the doo for awhile yet, finally got it working decent.

I have a timber front and rear in mine and love it. 162" track and stage two mc turbo. On the trail i usually run the floats around 140 lbs if you do a steep hill you need to pump the rear shock over 180 lbs to keep the front down. The sled does handle weird though which is what this post is about. So weird that i bought another one for ditchbangin. COuldnt go back and forth to my old sled for a 1000kms and then ride a boosted nitro for three days in the mountains. To hard to get wicked on it. Now that i ride one all the time i really have gotten to like it. The only down side is it pulls hard on the lake till around 100kms per the not so fast anymore. Might need to supercharge the lake sled now...
