Sometimes the answer is just that simple. The shot system is a capacitor that needs to be charged. Mine started (with the pull of the rope) in -28 today. After you have rode it for a few minutes the temp under the hood is not -28 so the heat from the engine over comes any cold temp. SO the shot system works really well if you ask me.

If I were to start the sled at home and drive for an hour to the staging area would there be enough "juice" remaining at -20 and lower to start it?

Wonder if one could put a trickle charger on it for an hour before you left and give you enough to get it going?

If you start the sled let it idle for 2mins it will start in -20 weather.

I guess my question Dean is how long will the charge last in the colder weather. I start the sled and load it on my deck, drive to Fernie (45 minutes), eat breakfast (another 30 minutes maybe 45), and then drive 20 minutes to staging. Will the SHOT work or will I have to pull the rope?

You will be pulling the rope. It will stay charged for 10 mins (I'm Guessing)
