Very nice build, question to you on it. Did you have to go with the 7 tooth drivers and does the btx have the dropped and rolled chaincase? Or is that the reason for going 7 tooth and custom gearing?

Its a 2017, so no D/R. Thank goodness as i'm not a fan of it for the little you gain compared to the vunerability of the drive.
I used a 7t driver as the original idea was to install the 3.2" track, might still go that rout and the 7t will allow me to do so, especially after the MCX 250hp setup is done.

Lund where did you T in for your boost gauge?

I don't have a boost gauge on it "yet", once the MCX setup is installed i will be installing a boost gauge.
The gauge on the bar is a wideband monitoring the O2.

My buddy brad has a new cat 800 with a redline boost kit in it

He went with the 3.2 track, said it worked good

He had the 2.8 track on his viper and said it sucked

I'm running the powderclaw on my 15 viper and for a stock track it works really well. At least I have no complaints.

The Powderclaw is a great track imo, i prefer it over the Extreme design on lower hp turbo's and non turbo sleds.
Unfortunately on big hp sleds the lugs fold over. While the super stiff extreme don't.

good to hear, I have the 3.2 siting on the floor, waiting for rails to install

Last spring when i was getting the track there was no 3.2 available, all sold out.
So i managed a steal on a 3" track instead. All i need to do now is swap out the 3" to a 3.2, no mods needed as the sled is ready to be fitted with a 3.2

One concern i do have, will it be stiff enough to handle the load without folding over.

Nope, the 3.2 folds over with boost, lots of people I know have tried it and went back to a 3", save your money.

That's good to know, as on my tapex I run a 2.5 extreme which works amazing. But had thought if I needed another new track I might go powderclaw now I know different. And you are right on the 190hp viper it works great.

So i figured i would put up the cost of this build to compare to an 2018 model MTX. To make this comparison i did not include preferences and option's that you would not find on a new 18 MTX.
The only real differences in the comparison is the 18 has D/R cases while the build has the 174" track length.
-Sled.......................14,000
-Drivers....................265
-A-arms...................800
-Tunnel cap..............600
-Rails.......................700
-track......................1600
-gears/chain..............150
-heat exchanger.........350
-front shock mod........230
Total cost of this sled converted to a 174 with no personal preference changes. $18,695.00 for DIY.

Personal preference or personalizing can be done on any sled, this one or an 18. Things such as running board up grades, pipes bumpers and so on. So the sky is the limit if you don't set a limit.

If you sold your powerclaw and your 162 rails you recover some of your money also. Adding a shorter extension rather than the whole back tunnel would save some money also. Thanks for sharing your build Lund.

Thanks niner, i had a great time building it. Last season was a lost for me but i still got my hands involved in the sport with this project. Now i'm riding and enjoying the new creation.
There is something special about riding something you built. Picturing it before the build and seeing it come together. Then the day it goes for its first ride.
One more thing is left to do but i need to get some miles on it first.
I appreciate that some fallowed and enjoyed the build, thanks everyone that did, its encouraging and maybe inspiring others to create their own.
