Just ordered the starlink mini. It's $399 until Jan 6. Didn't really need it but it could be handy in an emergency.
Yeah you could get your new mini and activate it. Deactivate your old starlink dish. Should all be on the same account. The plans for the mini are $50 for 50GB or $180 for unlimited. So I have the regular Starlink roam. If I order this I just cancel my other Starlink and activate the mini? Or do I need to switch over accts?

Will be curious to hear your experience with it. It's low power draw and reasonable cost makes this an attractive option for mountain top snow conditions cameras. Thinking about getting varda converted to starlink if those these work well in winter conditions.Just ordered the starlink mini. It's $399 until Jan 6. Also be a good safety feature if someone needed to make a phone call/text in an emergency situation. Will be curious to hear your experience with it. I wouldn't make it an open WIFI, for what VARDA is using it for the lower plan should be ample, you set it up as an open WIFI and you'll have everyone sitting in the cabins watching TikTok and PornHub together. Also be a good safety feature if someone needed to make a phone call/text in an emergency situation.
We are limited on power, so the system is shut off a good portion of the day anyways. It's the best way I found to be reliable (compared to the yamacam in revy). They have no backup generator, so we are reliant on wind and Solar to keep things going, and the days be short and cloudy.I wouldn't make it an open WIFI, for what VARDA is using it for the lower plan should be ample, you set it up as an open WIFI and you'll have everyone sitting in the cabins watching TikTok and PornHub together.
the setup interests me I'm not going to lie, peaks the nerdy side of my past careers. We are limited on power, so the system is shut off a good portion of the day anyways. Shoot, I should have waited instead of buying in September. 50 for 50GB would have been perfect.Yeah you could get your new mini and activate it. Deactivate your old starlink dish. Should all be on the same account. The plans for the mini are $50 for 50GB or $180 for unlimited.
Should be able to sell yours to someone looking for one.Shoot, I should have waited instead of buying in September. 50 for 50GB would have been perfect.

Unfortunately, it would have to be 25ft up on the peak of the cabin to get clear line of sight to the sky 360°.Mini draws about 40watts at peak usage (20watts at idle) so in that application it should work really well. If you could have it somewhere that you could manually wipe the snow off it that would help too.
Been learning about this satellite messaging on the iphone, apparently android has it as well. Also be a good safety feature if someone needed to make a phone call/text in an emergency situation.
Interesting, hadn't heard about android having it yet.... all I know is i won't be switching to Roger's if the starlink~Roger's deal goes through.Been learning about this satellite messaging on the iphone, apparently android has it as well.
I've got a gen 3 in my Kenworth. Used it a bit for camping this summer, it is a larger antenna than the gen 2 and only asks to be oriented through the app for optimal performance. I have it stuck in a shelf inside the sleeper and get great speeds anywhere I go with it sitting in the same spot.Anyone have the new generation of starlink non motorized? I am wondering how the newer ones are better than the non motorized, I am pretty happy with the performance of the motorized.
