Last I checked we don't have any Starlink base stations in Western Canada. So all our data has to go to a station in the US, likely Montana. At some point far enough north this requires the use of the satellite to satellite lasers to deliver internet over the horizon.

Maybe this has some influence on speed tests?

From what i could find all of western canada goes through the ground station in seattle area.
Atleast that was the case when i put mine up.

The other ground station it would let me use was alot further east but cant remember where exactly.
