Spring Spacers done wrong...

Just wanted to pass along what happened when I installed the torsion spring spacers in the wrong way... they ended up friction welding against the top idler wheel! Both sides were bound so tight to the wheel they would not turn. We had to use a lever to break the spacer apart from the wheel (see pic). I thought the bearings had went but turns out I had installed the spacers with the flange towards the wheel instead of the other way so the spring would hold spacer away from wheel... Hope it helps others. Now I know! I do like the extra height the spacers give so the tunnel doesn’t sag so far down.

JungleJim send me a private message if you need another set. I’ll know these aren’t mine but i believe the other guy doesn’t make them any more and I’d still be more than happy to help you out if needed.

Either way this is good info for everyone, thanks for sharing.

what does he do because if it was the other guy you have to cut the teflon wrap off the spindle, your needs that teflon to fit correctly, yes / no

just a heads up

I put the spacers in my 19 G4 last year. It definitely helped but was still not great. I ripped the torsion springs out 2 weeks ago and did a fox float conversion. Money well spent. I highly recommend the fox float.

Just put the spacers on my 175", work great, like they did on my 163". A reasonably priced fix which actually makes a difference...

Thanks Marty! I was able to pry the spacers off and flip them around to work properly. Appreciate your offer.

Marty can I buy stocks in your business? You are gonna be rich from all the Doo turbo buyers next year trying to stiffen up their rear suspensions so they can steer their sleds up hill. Lol

Yeah you would think they would put a real skid/suspension in that rig.

This is pretty much the exact build I had in 2017. Stock sled with Boost It low boost kit. Put HD springs and spacers on the rear skid because I was to cheap to buy another Baker skid. Sled was to much for me on the steep stuff. Turbo kept saving my butt as I was breathing the sled to try and let it steer somewhat. It was a challenge. This sled will be perfect with a 175 in it for us older guys whose skills are starting to leave us IMO.

Curious question for this in the know... I installed Spencer’s on my ‘18 174 and the sag is worse with them than without! Low rider for sure. I did not end up loosening the track as it was crazy right. But still sits low. Suggestions?
