Not gonna lie, i am one of many who do speed to get to my spot. But i keep hearing about this law BC has in legislation that if you are 30km.hr or mayby 40km.hr over the speed limit you loose your truck and licesence on the spot. As well have to take a course, on a 6 month waiting list for peopole, to get your vechicle back as well your licesence.

no need to heckle me as i do not speed this fast but more or less wondering and if someone can shed some light on this.

Heard about the excessive speeding law this summer but didn't hear anything about losing your vehicle.

Sounds like something BC law enforcement would come up with. They are more of a seperate entity in Canada than Quebec is I believe.

new law is in effect, local towing company brought in 30 cars in 1 long weekend this summer. i am all for it, really tired of risking my life driving out here. the hiways are way to busy to be travelling 120+km/h

yes to all the above! the first offence is around $900, but I think some cops are going around $450 ish.....they can use there desecration.....and I know for the 5th offence it is like $22 000.......yes I have the zeros right....twenty two thousand!......at the 3rd offence of something like 10-12000 you will start to see some kids out running it and hurting someone.......they should have just kept it at $900 and take away car/lic.....that is just my thought! I did get stopped this summer for 50km/hr over and expired lic well passing on my bike........and the cop was very nice and let me continue.....he just told me to keep it at the speed limit and go get a new lic tomorrow! I did have a legit reason to speed but still was not legal! I just had a nice cop that day! I have had I think 2 speeding tickets in 15 years but before that I racked them up by the day......I would not like this new ticket!

so 30km/hr over limit and you loose your vechicle, NOT your licesnce and have to do a 3 day course to get either back??

This sis something all need to know, especially the edmonton guys that have 70km.hr speed limits on the yellowhead. What bull for these guys, i complain about the 90 limits we have.

rumor mill says there going to increase the speed limit in the park on hwy #1 once there done with the expansions....

It is 40km/h over speed limit that they consider excessive speeding. And if you get caught doing 40 over there is no discression on the officers part they have been instructed that they must enforce strictly. Also for 40 over yo dont lose dyour vehicle for 3 days it's 7days. So currently if you are doing 110km/h+ in the park in the 70 zones you can lose your wehicle if you get busted. If you blow .05 on a breathalyzer then you lose your vehicle for 3 days..

I hate to say it because I used to have a heavy foot but I agree with this new law. The traffic especially in the summer is nuts on BC highways and they are not meant for the volume of traffic for roads built in the 60's, although they are making improvements. if the limit is 90 km and some places 100 km adding 40 km is unsafe in the mountains IMO.

I actually got pulled over for that once, and he told me if I have to pass someone and I go faster than the speed limit, it's deemed an unsafe pass. I passed a guy doing 90 in a 100, at 130 and got pulled. Luckily he was in a good mood and gave me a warning.

You honestly had to ask that? That's like asking if you can pass on a solid yellow. Maybe you should go hand in your lisence and take the written test again, I doubt you can pass it asking questions like that. If you can't pass safely you shouldn't be trying, if you aren't sure, you shouldn't be driving.

There is plenty of reasons for SOME vehicles to drive slowly, primarly big trucks. For example the truck I drive tops out at 95 km/hr. If you can't pass them safely, get off the road, YOU are the danger. Yes there is the odd retard in a car going 80 in a 110, but that is rare.

110 km/hr speed limit sucks, but with all the shitty drivers on the road I am ok with it. Drivers suck way to much to have higher limits. Retarded people are the reason speed limits are what they are.

40 over loosing the vehicle is fine by me. That is very excessive.

Kinda harsh on the kid aren`t you. I thought he asked a pretty legitimate question especially for BC and their hyperactive police force.
