It's funny you say that because a friend of mine has one you guys put together and he tells me it goes almost as good as the stock sleds he was comparing it too. I can PM you his name if you like.

That would be appreciated cause it would be the first i knew of..

I ride with a XRS with the 860 RK tek built by Specialty. Absolutely rocks. The nice thing about Ken is he knew what the clutches needed and everything First time out all it needed was a couple clicks on quick clickers and away it went.

Thats good.. I'm already working like 11hrs a day 6days a week i dont know if i vould work any more hours in a week.. But im Glad to hear that it's working well for you.. I probably assembled it for you.. And we had another customer in today that was just down in sicamous, he said if it didnt have a turbo on it, it didnt stand a chance... I love hearing those stories... What it all boils down to is the fact that i like building and doing stuff for people that there sleds rock... But i'm not saying that i'm the only one that is like that, i know that there are others out there a person just has to find the shop that they like and trust.. No matter what shop it is... the most important thing is that you are happy with how your own sled performs...

first off ,i do not believe you have to run that much race fuel in a 860 kit unless you are running over 14-1 compression.i have never heard any of the actual builders of these kits state that in any of their correspondance and the r motor has so much deto protection that i do not believe you need that type of fuel.secondly mountain magic think they have exclusivity on everything they sell as i am sure i have heard that statment come out of other shops as well.all these kits can be bought direct if you are keen enough to do yourself.if not go with which one satisfies your heart , i am sure the one with the least experience will require the most tweaking and the first ride will determine if you made a good decision or not .lastly ,do not let them sell you that 10/liter. fuel unless they can prove it to you

you are correct that the R motor has alot of det sensoring.. But if it notices a knock it will back off the timing.. And the "08's are constantly looking for a knock. So if it runs with the timing retarded then you will not get near the full potential of the kit either, and i know that the kits that we do are over 14:1 comp. I agree that most anyone can get the kits.. But alot of people prefer to either be able to pick up the kit without having to wait or have it installed.. It's also handy if you can get an instant clutching set-up that will make the sled rock rather trhan having to work at dialing it in yourself and possibly spending extra money on parts. Just my thoughts..

i do agree that if your compression is over 14-1 you need race fuel, but there are alot of rktech 860s running around at anywhere between 13 and 14-1 compression and are not using race gas.the area that you need the racegas the most is at low elevation and thats the part that alot of people do not understand. glen, i am sure specialty's kit is 14-1 or over and mountain magic is 13.5-1. iam not sure about pure addiction but i know he selling sever heads that are 13.5-1.that is probably the push from each shop.like i said before if the shop will not customize for you the builder will!

I agree with you that some shops wont customize your kit for you. The thing is that the higher comp. helps you out when in the hills.. But it all depends where you ride, if you ride down here you might not want the high comp. We've done some kits that are upto like 14.6:1.. But for me one of the reasons for running the rage fuel is also insurance, you never can be totally sure how good of fuel your geting.. Specialy if you buy it in vale or mcbride.. We have a couple diff comp ratio heads for diff kits..

I have specialty's 860 kit as well and it was a large increase in torque and hp from stock. It's alot of fun but I could still use more. I wouldn't say it's "untouchable".
