The dream of building a 4 stoke catalyst is getting better. When these crap out and no parts available they will hit rock bottom. Throw in a reliable 270 hp sidewinder engine in that chassis and hang on.

Thats the plan for the summer project. Throw a bigger turbo in the mix, see what all can be lightened up on the engine and see if I can get it under 580lbs the current setup is at.

The last two guys in here that will literally do anything including spending 100 grand to build a
Yamaha cat turbo over just buying a new turbo R doo and smiling ear to ear into the foreseeable future

Why be like everyone on the hill when you can be different. And when you can weld, machine and fabricate everything on your own you would be surprised at the cost savings.

Doesn't mean the 2nd sled on the deck wont be a turbo Doo though.

My son and 2 of his friends bought 858s. Two are base models small gauge his is the blue one with the big screen. He has had multiple issues and now needs a new motor as one side is low compression and the cylinder is scratched. They fill up at the same station with 91 octane 2 run his doesn’t. All the videos we have seen of these sleds having issues it’s the big screen ones like Muskoka and Hugo. My guess is it’s something to do with the that. The 2 base models are over 400 miles no issues. His has just over 2 and needs a motor. Pretty frustrating.

Sorry to hear about your sleds going down, unfortunately I think this is gonna be a big theme for Cat this year and with no support anymore these sleds are gonna be worth much much less in our near future, its too bad that the consumer has to suffer for the junk that Cat has put out this year, at least Polaris is still in business and can deal with the 49 recalls they have on their sleds, Cat should offer a buyback program except that they have no money, it would be interesting to see how many would go back.

I could see more cat dealers pulling the pin within the next few years. I can’t see them operating shrouded around the uncertainty.

The American consumer is going to take the hit. Tarrifs hurt the consumer, not the company.
who would buy a doo if it costs 25% more than a polaris in the states ? Dealers can't soak up that kind of price difference

Buying any Textron product would be a huge gamble now no matter how cheap they are. Like I said earlier it took 3 months to get and air filter for a Textron SxS. Textron has no parts warehouse in Canada now, every part has to come from the U.S. A CV boot kit and air filter cost like $150, kinda steep I think.

Not to derail the 858 thread, but international motorsports in Langley is blowing out A/C quads and sxs at almost half price
I heard that even they (international motorsports) are struggling as they are a volume dealer that competes on price and still having trouble moving enough units.

Can’t imagine that Polaris isn’t buying most of the parts for their sleds from outside of the US.

But they are assembled in the US, it seemed like the tariffs were going to be on finished products, but time will tell I guess.
