You guys in Alberta cn chaet a little i see. Can,t insure mine with the car. Had mine thru beacon before was $790 for the year for 2 sleds < valued at $14.000 total. Included Liability and 1000 for deck/trailer and 1000 for riding gear. Welcome - Beacon 724

I am now with Oasis for similar coverage Oasis Insurance - OASIS Outdoor Adventure & Sport Insurance Solutions
I had to change to get my vaue up on the M 1000. Beacon would only insure it for what i paid for it. Got a screaming deal on it. So if it was a total loss i could never replace it for what they insured it for.
Good idea to have Liabilty , i alwasy thought i was covered by my house insurance WRONG!!

I insure through wawanesa and its $675ish a year for full coverage. Its based on the 6 month riding and 6 month storage policy. Averaged out over the year its $56 a month. I left it off my auto policy just because they recomended I do so because of the high risk of sledding accidents vs. low risk of driving accidents. Save a little money for now but crash the sled and have my auto rates go up like $80 a month for a couple years........ no brainer for me. To put it on my auto policy would save a measly $20 a month for me. I shopped around and really didn't find much for savings to go with other companies so I kept it simple and stayed with my main insurer

Thanks everyone for the good USEFULL info. Appreciate it. Seems like sledders get the short end of the stick a bit when it comes to insurance. I guess it is a "high risk" sport though.

thats a good deal. Oasis insurance for a new sled all perils with a club membership is 533, for comp only it is 60 for the year. but again you must belong to ABCSC so add another 25 bucks but it gets you our club membership and some numbers for us as well.

Rowdy, PM sent. Ask her if it would be ok to post her info it you feel she is worth it. I have been using Drayton for a while now with no issues, actually switched all of our insurance to them since talking with her.

I sell for Co-operators and we have really good rates for quads and sleds and motorcycles as well. We will do standalone quads or sled policies with no auto. Give me a call and I can figure something out for anyone Interested. 403-343-1026. Beth

I personally know it does not effect your auto policy and as well does not effect you sled premium as it is based solely on Value of the machine.

I wrote my 09 xp off this past season and was paid out and my rates on my 2011 were no effected one bit. Nore were my Auto rates. Also T-Team knows first hand that it does not as well.

Not true. Wrote off 2 quads in 17 months in my 20s. Also had 3 sleds. A boat. Couple new vehicles. And it made no difference to my auto/ business Insurance prices

This is well said, my insurance was always combined with my auto and a couple years back I wrote off my t-apex good news was it was fully covered bad is that I have an at fault on my driving record. Also make sure you know what your insured for......I pay $1000 ish for my nytro but that is for $20,000 worth of coverage, dont get caught wondering why they give you black book value for your machine when you have 10k worth of extra bolt on parts but you were getting a good deal on insurance!

TD will not either, They are aware that sleds are a 6 month toy and base the rates on 6 months use, but charge over 12 months.

I'd be careful putting a sled onto auto insurance, TD will not do this period, my sleds show up on my auto pink cards but have thier own separate policy, not sure I'd want a sled claim affecting my auto rates.

I've had long discussions on this topic with Brad (stumpy) and if I required full coverage I'd definitly use him (Dyson Insurance) lots of insurers will tell you your fully covered but be sure to read the fine print, insurance companies tend not to like "extreme" riding and if you have a claim you may be denied if deemed "extreme" I clarified with TD that if I drop mine off a cliff I'd be covered if I had collision, but thats why the collision portion is so expensive. Brad will insure you for EVERYTHING no questions asked...

Ok these insurance post get everyone going. The whole idea of insurance is to spread the loss of few among many. All insurance have the same 13 statutory conditions. The rates are all different, and get a copy of you policy wording to see what is covered and not covered by Your insurance company because what Bob has with wawa may not be covered by with Jim at intact and so forth. Some include the extras and some charge for extras. Also if you have a good advisor they will tell you will save a little money going all perils instead of Collision and comp separate. Yes deductible is the same for both claims.
