Sounds like you have a good dealer looking after you

Yea, honestly I cant say enough good about them, except that they keep showing me chit that I want to buy...got into a boat this year too, and of course they have some demos that they offer to me way too often...I have so far resisted the urge, thank god for the crappy summer weather LOL

Why not ask if they can switch you to a sled with e-start, worst they can say is no they don't have one.

I used to laugh at e start until I got it, never go back.

1. Try and pull start a big bore after you spent 20 mins digging it or someone else out on a slope. E Start = Win.

2. Pull start a cold motor on the second day of your weekend, sore shoulder vs push a button. E Start = Win.

3. After stopping on a steep slope (wether to help someone get out or stuck yourself) with the sled pull start side facing downhill when the sled is across the slope, you have to hold the sled from rolling over and try and pull start or stand on the uphill board, push button and ride away. E Start = Win.

I've been in all three senarios numerous times and E start is the best thing since sliced bread!!!

I second ALL these comments, Our group snow checked 3, 2011, 800etec 163's, and they ALL have the push button start too. Cant comment on the snow checking process, its the first time we do it, but I expect we will be on our new machines in mid november.

Oh man, shed some light please, this is my first snowcheck, but like everything there is always time to back out...

Give me your thoughts on why you think its a rip-off, AND how else do I get an X model?

Got mine about dec 11 or 12 long wait it. was worth it the only way to get the best of the best or get a everist. can always by a used x.

Best way to buy x model is used. Bugs worked out and usually recalls have been looked after. Yes to electric start if you're a little long in the fang. It extends my riding day by a couple hours just cause arms arn't so tired. Rather be riding then pulling on that friggin rip cord. Always there for back up. right!

Plus how many times have you seen recoils fail in the backcountry, you wear it out prematurely by ripping on it all the time (espically when the engine is cold). Vs e start that still has the recoil to get you out when the button dies or battery fails ( which doesn't happen:d).

But aren't the newer machines eliminating the recoil on the ES model. Sort of like the old crank on the model 'T'......

When I ordered mine, the dealer told me that if I went with e-start then the machine had no recoil...

No pull start at all, you could order separate and they would install, but it wasnt coming from the factory. All dealers were upset and asking BRP to change this, I havent heard what happened.

Most of the KTM off road bikes have both e-start and kick.
Why leave things to chance when you're on the back side of Silent Pass and your battery could be too dead to start your sled?

No answer for the snowcheck question. Sounds like you got the right deal and dealer.

As far as having just e-start and no recoil. If it came down to that you could wrap a short strap around the primary and start it.
My recoil broke on the way into Silent Pass. We were far enough in that I didn't want to turn around and sit in the truck. I used the strap for the whole day. Kind of a pain but I still got to sled for the day. Good thing my sled starts easily. My brother has e-start and it is slick. Too bad kits are so expensive or else I would add it.

My 2010 has both and my 500 Ho has both but I'll say it again....the time is coming.....What about the newer Polaris 700 and 800 quads, the new Yamaha bikes, the 4 stroke sleds, the newer gen-sets have electric start.....just saying
